My take on it all is If BS had no legal case for litigation his Attorney wouldn't risk his career etc. on litigating on behalf of BS if there was no case to answer. IMO.
He'll still get paid. Unless it's no win no pay. IMO.

Little Spider Man --- where are you? It's time to come home.
Thank you for the refocus, Vern. This is William's thread. Any other agendas took be taken somewhere else. IMO.

I think we had heard from Col at the start that a bank debit existed on Spedding's bank statement/records, however I believe the actual receipt from Buzz Cafe showing exact time, what (and how many) was exactly ordered, etc., to match that same amount from the bank statement, was not known about previously, and seemed to be produced at 2nd tranche of the Inquest. Spedding's lawyer made mention that police had not bothered to seek out evidence that had been available to them for years and that they had to seek it out themselves (which is not normal, imo). (see link below.)

As well, I believe O'Brien was also referring to the video/photo which showed that Spedding was somewhere else at the time when Pollard in a police statement had said Spedding was acting suspiciously driving in or out of the bush on the night W disappeared, which allegation caused a large search of the area. These things are what I believe to be the "'new' proof discovered by lawyers".

Contrary to the quoted statement above, many seem to believe Spedding is no longer a POI (perhaps not many on this site, but in general). The Coroner had set aside an additional day for BS to be cross examined, but I believe I read that nobody had questions after his testimony and it seemed to satisfy the Coroner, at which time I believe O'Brien excused himself from being present further. That additional day that had been set aside was a wasted day when there was no court held at all, IIRC.

Perhaps we might *all* benefit from reading the thread and the details. If any one of us were dragged through the dirt like Spedding has been for the past five years, I'm pretty sure we would believe these things to be oversights by police and may not be satisfied with the 'evidence'. Even FM has publicly complained about oversights made, by police failing to cordon off the street right away, for one. imo.
----
"Defence lawyer Peter O’Brien was this month forced to gather the evidence that clearly ruled Mr Spedding out, despite it being available to police for years.

“I’m not suggesting for a moment police shouldn’t have looked at my client,” he said. “But it would, or should, have been fairly evident fairly quickly there wasn’t anything in it.”"

Our Verified Attorney has given his professional opinion on this too, so i respect his opinion because he is here to let us know how legal matters work. Will go back on the thread to refresh what he has said about it.

With all due respect, as registered members we're ALL entitled to our opinions as long as they're within TOS, regardless of what others may say or think.

If only the focus could get back to William.

And with respect i never said otherwise.
The case hasn't had any major breakthrough that i'm aware of in 5+ years? It's hard to say anything much about it that hasn't been said umpteen times before. It would be great to get to the truth of what really happened to WT and what actually happened to him, IMO. We can only hope.

CO didn't come along until at least 12 months after William vanished from what I remember and shows in the date of this article.

Her first venture into Williams case was his care status not his disappearance and not ever William.

IMO this shows in her podcast, she's more about all the background of Foster status, Cadavers, Memory, Investigation etc., that shows through with her side interviews in the podcast - not William.

I will say that I have found some of her podcasts interesting, but I think she's actually missed the mark about William.

I'd like to read it again too if you can find it, Karinna. I wouldn't think losing a weak case would injure a lawyer's career, but standing up with virtually no case (which is what you mentioned) would I think be humiliating.

Just wonder about the Spedding club video. I wonder if it’s time stamp has been investigated and verified.

Also wonder if there are non family members who could testify that it was indeed on the day they say.

Maybe the whole football club would say so? Or the Club itself?

Yep. If he loses, he would have to pay not only his costs, but NSWPOL costs too. No competent lawyer would take it on unless the client either had very deep pockets or a very good claim

Good question, I would imagine that the Police have had it forensically tested. I would hope so anyway.

I believe, if others want to look back in the threads, that our question has been ... how many assemblies was Hallelujah sung at? Or do we assume it was only sung at one assembly?
Some have even speculated that the school was practising the song for some other more statewide/local appearance.

Unfortunately, any testimony by school representatives has not been heard in open court or has not been heard in a non-suppressed manner - even though a school representative IIRC is on the witness list, or was stated by MSM to be slated to appear.

As JW said ... shaky alibis. Nothing that we have heard is proof positive. Just indicative. imo

Yes that’s the way i see it, was “Hallelujah” only sung at one assembly, to me the alibi is more than shaky. ....
RSBM
Our thread member who attended each day of the Inquest and has graciously shared information with us, has reported that her impression after having been there to hear all of the testimony was that the Hallelujah song had only been sung at this one assembly.

It is unfortunate that this was not better clarified during cross examination opportunities while these people were on the stand, however it seems to be a leap to go from 'once', to being practised for a statewide or local appearance, which would presumably entail being a regular occurrence, when it seems that the powers-that-be, our member in attendance, the media, Spedding, his lawyer, etc., were satisfied that it seemed they were all talking about the same assembly. imo.:

I got the impression Hallelujah was only sung at this assembly.

I wonder if they knew it existed before the inquest, though. If he had proof he was somewhere else, why didn't the video make its way to the forefront much earlier in this investigation. Just like his youtube video. And I'm sure good ole Col would've told us about it. IMO.

BBM. Lots of new information was shared at the inquest about events and people we didn't know about before, which gave rise to a whole new lot of questions and possibilities. IMO.

Perhaps once he got a lawyer it was part of discovery material? The video would of had to of been retrieved from the venue i imagine?

I think the video was taken on a phone from what I recall, certainly didn't look like CCTV from a venue IMO

Interesting though that in 5 years none of them ever remembered being there or mentioning it. IMO.

Yes those new people mentioned, but we will have to wait and see how any of them could of played into the case if at all? We just don't know yet, and there have been no arrests yet either. Time will tell i guess.
