Cunneen has just read aloud part of a recording from the bug in Savage’s house, where he was allegedly talking to himself saying “I’m not interested in your bulls** mate. You’re just a little boy, you’re nobody”.

Whats the!

Is he really losing his mind?

The court heard Savage was also overheard talking to his late wife Heather, who was dead at the time, inside his house while he was alone saying “don’t tell anyone love...they’re right after me.. sorry”.

Detective Sergeant Laura Beacroft, who was a member of the strike force investigating William's disappearance for more than two years, said she suggested in March 2017 that the investigation should make further inquiries into Mr Savage.

Was she involved in the forensic search in mid 2018?

The commander of the NSW Homicide Squad, Detective Superintendent Scott Cook, is one of the rising stars in the state police force, with a long history of getting results.

In just 10 months as head of the squad, he has restructured the way his investigators work, imposing a six-month cut-off to solve cases before deciding whether they should be sent to the coroner.

It is all part of Superintendent Cook’s push to free up homicide detectives to focus on investigations and cut through the 600 unsolved cases on their books — most of them cold cases like the Lyn Dawson disappearance.

By fast-tracking investigations to the coroner’s court, detectives can tap into the court’s powers, such as compelling witnesses to give evidence, while providing victims’ families with answers sooner.
A bit of damage control, perhaps? :D

‘Let kids be kids’: Kendall reacts to Tyrrell investigation

June 19 2018 - 4:30PM
William Tyrrell: Strike Force Rosann returns to Benaroon Drive, Kendall for forensic search

Det Ch Insp Jubelin said the purpose of the evidence, ‘whether it’s presented to a court – coroner or criminal – is to prove that beyond reasonable doubt, William’s disappearance was the result of human intervention and not misadventure’.

Det Insp Jubelin said time will be no barrier to finding evidence, he said, despite the fact the region has experienced the extremes of weather conditions over the last three years.

He refused to conclude the search for William had exhausted all possibility of an outcome.

"We have not given up on this investigation. We are committed to finding out what happened to William. We are mindful it has been three and half years since William disappeared and we still have not solved this matter,” he said.
r0_0_5568_3712_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg

“What we have done is build up a database of evidence that we readily refer to. The search we are doing and the defined areas we are looking at is for a reason.

“Everything we do is planned. There is strategy behind every time we talk to the media and every inquiry we do. It's not done in an ad hoc fashion.

I suggest you come to us before we come to you.

Det Ch Insp Gary Jubelin
“We've got a deliberate plan and it was coordinated at this time because it suited the investigation.”

Y
Savage walked the track every day. IMO the planted spiderman suit gives the appearance it has been there for longer than a day. If Savage saw it and thought to himself 'hmm that wasn't there yesterday' it may have raised his suspicions and caused him to take a day to think about how he should respond.
yeh that’s true.. didn’t think of that.. I still find it odd either way.. a first reaction wouldn’t be to over analyse or over think. Was it there yesterday why is it here today? Why even consider those questions.... it’s there, he could see it was there so how it got there should be of no concern to Savage and the police should have been notified immediately for them to figure out n find the answers to

'You told me to plead guilty' over Tyrrell
The May 3 recording, made on Jubelin's phone and played to Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday, was not covered by a surveillance device warrant active at the time, the Crown alleges.

The recording captures Jubelin and Mr Savage accusing each other of being untruthful at times during the investigation.

"You're the one who started pushing me away, I've had you go through my house ... you just want to put s*** on me," Mr Savage said.

"You told me to plead guilty."

Jubelin denies ever telling Mr Savage to plead guilty

"Paul, you seriously need some (mental health) help," he says.

Mr Savage told Jubelin he'd been speaking to a solicitor and had been instructed not to allow police onto his property without a warrant.

The court heard Savage was already the subject of listening devices placed in his home by investigators before Jubelin had even met him. Det Sgt Beacroft said the recordings showed “he would talk a lot to himself”.

On those recordings, the court heard Savage would talk to himself about the interviews with Jubelin, claiming he’d been denied a drink and made to stay in a cold room. He also used “a lot of bad language” to describe Jubelin.

I'm kinda lost for words about the proceedings today... I'm not sure where this is going - for both Jubes & PS. What if PS is innocent? Beacroft's comments about him not being such a major POI these days is doing my head in... even if he is a bit of a nut - he might be innocent??

Detective Senior Sergeant Laura Beacroft, who worked on the investigation for two years, told the court that she came to the view in 2018, following exhaustive inquiries, that Mr Savage “was not the person who had abducted, William Tyrrell.”

“There was nothing concrete” to link him to the crime, she said.

Officer Beacroft has since left the investigation, but when asked if Mr Savage was still considered a person of interest, she said: “No. To my knowledge, he’s not an active person of interest.”
