Jubelin tells officers the strike force deployed several undercover officers to try and get information from Savage. One posed as a PHD student and another as a clairvoyant. He said the strategies didn’t elicit any useful information.

We’re for Sydney | Daily Telegraph

Detective Senior Constable Greg Gallyot said he didn’t report the wrongdoing because he was “in fear”, the Downing Centre Local Court had heard today.

He eventually provided a statement about the recordings on the same day he started his sought-after job at the Unsolved Homicide Team.

Jubelin is also accused of directing a junior officer, Det Snr CST Gallyot, to use his own phone to record one of the conversations on the phone with Mr Savage, a Kendall local, in 2017.

Giving evidence before a packed courtroom today, the detective explained his initial reaction as “shock”.

“I looked at Detective Chief Inspector Jubelin,” he said.

“He gave me what I would call a serious or stern look with a furrowed brow and stared back at me. He said, just do it.

“I sat down, got my phone out and put it into record mode and was ready to record.”

However, Det Snr CST Gallyot uploaded it to a shared drive that the strike force had access to.

“I didn’t believe Mr Jubelin would find it and know that I disobeyed him,” he said.

“I did want to confront the (Homicide Squad) commander but it is very difficult when myself, Jubelin and the entire team sit outside the commander’s office,” he said.

The rest of the strike force became aware of the recordings, the court has heard.

In his police interview Gary #Jubelin says there were "red flags, indicators" about Savage. Then "I can't be certain Savage has done it but I can be certain we have to explore these avenues."

What are the discrepancies intriguedinterest ???

Leaving out a few vital bits n pieces. The one that stood out today was she missed tweeting about the transcripts from the recorded calls were prepared to go to the Coroner.

The hearing has been suspended until Monday.

Maybe she is just suggesting if Gallyot felt there was misconduct by anyone, why did he not report it asap as required under the police act?
imo

yes and his reply later suggested he was in fear of Jubelin's retribution.

Nope , she didn't.....

Gallyot told the court Jubelin later handed him his phone and asked him to make a “synopsis” of the recorded visits with Savage for the Coroner.

Maybe Gallyot should have stood up for himself.......

He did by transferring the data from Jubelin's phone to the nswpolice server so it could never be deleted forever.

  • #894
To be fair to Gallyot, I don't think it is that easy to stand up for yourself in a command and control structure like Police have.
And I believe he stood up for himself in the best way possible. He saved the evidence.

BBM: He didn't delete or try & hide the recordings I guess :) & the cops got a warrant :D

It is possible the original voice recordings were deleted but as we all know these days, nothing can be deleted without leaving a copy.

Jurno's are there to write their story for their employers. The ABC guy only tweeted a couple of times today, went off and released an article at lunchtime. You don't have anything to say about his leaving out vital bits.

I'd imagine that Lia is keeping some info for her News story tonight, can't blame her for wanting to please her employer. She's not just there for free public info.

IMO, Savage has some serious mental health issues going on.
The illegal recordings of him talking to himself were plain weird. I mean, it's not totally crazy to talk to yourself in the privacy of your own home (I think), but the stuff that was recorded makes it sound like a serious mental illness and if that's the case, who knows what he was capable of?

'Don't tell anyone, love': Secret recordings of William Tyrrell suspect revealed in court

In the final recording which became the subject of one of Mr Jubelin's four charges, he confronted Mr Savage and repeatedly suggested he had mental health issues which "clouded" his version of events.

"This is not the way I usually talk to people in investigations, but I just can't help thinking in a tragic set of circumstances, it can be resolved," Mr Jubelin said in the recording from December 2018.

"Sometimes with mental health if the truth's distorted in your own mind, that's where it becomes problematic."

just watching ps on the news tonight, he seems a frail, sad, lonely old man whose life has been turned upside down, i realize police have their strategies and will do whatever they can, but after hearing some of the evidence this week it sounds a lot like bullying and mindgames,
i feel sorry for him and hope he has family who visit him,
its not crazy to talk to your dead partner, especially if you shared most of your life with them, he has nobody to come home to and it probably helps him cope, i still dont feel hes guilty although maybe he saw something
