Poor nanabearbear,
The CO book says that FGM told a few people about William's foster-care status after he'd gone missing, so I agree: it's reasonable to think she might have mentioned his upcoming visit before he arrived, too.
"[A text from the director of the Young Hope out-of-home care program] said: 'I received a phone call from [William's caseworker] who informed me that the foster carer's mum had disclosed to Fay at the local convenience store, and to Mercure (hotel) staff, that William was her grandson, and that they were (in) foster care. I immediately phoned [woman from FACS] to convey the situation. The foster carer's sister was also instructed that her mother was not to have these conversations."

Yip im puzzled on this...how would you give someone a lift if you didnt know them..they werent hitch hiking i doubt..so how did this lift come about..arranged ?? By whoMy thoughts were yesterday: He drove a woman and a child? Had he been a taxi driver beside his other jobs? (Thinking of PB/nocturnal man ....)
ETA: If he drove the woman, it was a very long journey and expensive, so very unusual, I think. He had around 3-4 hours time to listen to this woman and the child and didn't hear a name or something important for identifying her? I wonder.

FGM had to be reined in after W went missing because she was reportedly telling people that W was a foster child, which was a no-no, so it is not inconceivable that she also could have been excitedly telling people before he disappeared, that her family would be visiting. It was not a secret that the family would be visiting, it was only a secret that they were arriving on the 11th instead of the 12th. Who knows if she may have shared with friends and acquaintances, shop owners and etc., that the family was to arrive on the weekend. Afterall, it seemed like it would be a special occasion in FGM's life, considering FM said it was their first visit since FGF had passed away in February, which was 7 months prior.
"There were no circumstances under which it wanted the public to know that William was a foster child. Here is one of the emails that were exchanged immediately after he went missing.
"Voice reading email: I got a text from Denise saying the three year old missing was in foster care. The situation was shared in a public setting. I asked Denise to convey that this was confidential and that his care status was *not* something that should be shared. The conversation could reach the media. It was entirely inappropriate, and imperative that William’s care status *not* be made known. I pressed the importance of keeping this information confidential.
"CO: Here’s another, even more urgent:
"Voice reading email: I received a phonecall from Ben Atwood, who informed me that the foster carer’s mom had disclosed to Faye, at the local convenience store, and to Mercure staff that William was her grandson and they were in foster care. I immediately phone Briney from FACS to convey this situation. Briney said she would immediately have it followed up at the Mercure and that she would also follow up with Faye also. Foster carer’s sister was also instructed that her mother was *not* to have these conversations."

There was also an additional reason to speak about her family, because her nice, big home was getting sold (a very special circumstance: leaving the hometown) and her daughter/s-i-l (FFC/MFC) had to help her to prepare the handover. MOO
