That makes sense SA with prisons, never considered that. I know residents in a certain nursing facility (and visitors and staff) have been told absolutely no discussions are to be had regarding a certain prior resident or certain case.

I just hope that someone at least comes forward with any information as we all do...

Regarding residents told to keep quiet, my post was more also about other matters unrelated to William. Just dont tend to see posts like we do here about naming and shaming bad drivers, or sticky beaks in the community having a go on SM about others. I guess what I am saying is, are people in the community scared? or are they just not the type community that takes to SM to vent about others they have a beef with in the community. I do wonder if there is a fear amongst the community in coming forward. Any also why if this is the case.
mussopossum,

Re: "I know residents in a certain nursing facility (and visitors and staff) have been told absolutely no discussions are to be had regarding a certain prior resident or certain case."

Can you expand on that at all within TOS? And are you talking about a rumour that it happened, or do you know that it's a fact? Thank you.

Is there more information about the letter? Or can someone please link me to the news article?

I’ve been offline for a while so I’ve missed parts of the discussion.
Chloexx,
I don't know which articles mentioned the letter, but it was reported in tweets by Lia Harris from the hearing at Taree on Wed 18 March 2020.
(Ms P is the wife of Ray P's brother.)

'[Ms P] told the court she found a letter after Ray died, which appeared to have been sent from jail and was signed "from your good friend Frank". She said the letter asked Ray to pick up his boat and move it "to a lady's place". She has since thrown it out.'
- @LiaJHarris

'She told the court the letter "meant nothing" at the time because she wasn't interviewed by detectives until earlier this year. She told the court she got the impression Ray was "scared of Frank".'

I think the inquest has likely ruffled a few peoples conscious and that police are getting closer to certain information / people that might have made them come forward instead of police coming to them. What I find interesting is that in my community on SM, the second anyone does any wrong, be it driving like a maniac, assault, child related or criminal related things it gets put on SM instantly with a backlash and loads of comments, reports, opinions from locals outting the person (s). I also see this outting in a few other Northern SM sites. Ive not seen this behaviour in the Kendall SM forums / groups / SM. It leaves me to wonder if this area / town does have a lot of secrets and if residents are afraid to speak up for whatever reason or (and no disrespect to any residents) it is just a known community where misfits go as they go under the radar in the community and can act out criminal related activity. It is a known hub for Peodos is it not? So why the attraction to this area?
I could not agree more. I find it incredible that there has not been more chatter about this. Even in forums where one can remain relatively anonymous there is very little, and what little I have seen, it is pretty obvious to me by the comments, phrasing and spelling quite often it is the same person. There is no content to their comments and they are mostly just derogatory of the police and the search methods so I won't bother elaborating.

hopefully the cadaver dogs find something if theres a body deep in the bush
i dont want to inflame this but i have web searched the effectiveness of cadaver dogs and other dogs that detect based on odours and according to double blind testing, the reliability of the dogs ranges from around 20%-90% depending on a bunch of factors.
When used properly and the handler also does not know where and if a cadaver exists, they are very accurate..around 9 correct detections for every 10 smells.
BUT, they are notoriously bad when operated incorrectly. so what im saying is that we just dont know how accurate they are when used due to this large disparity in accuracy. This is one of the reasons that they arent and cant be used as evidence.

Hi Tim. Could you post some links to the information you’ve researched please?

I recall seeing a documentary of cadaver dogs being trained with buried bodies hidden on a rural property (in a secret location of course). I'm not sure about them being unreliable, as their training method is no different to that to track, detect drugs or find truffles. Like every dog/handler, some would work better than others and there are lots of variables in a dog being able to detect it's target scent. They would only be "used as evidence" if they were to find a buried body and there would be no disputing their accuracy then.

"Police and SES crews were out again today, searching an area on the mid north coast… it's understood that operation has now wrapped up."

- Police say it could be years before the William Tyrrell case is solved, NBN News, 25 June 2020

From the video, NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller: "There are still many, many lines of enquiry that will need to be undertaken, and I suspect that this investigation will be ongoing for possibly years."

Thanks Stormy....... its very sad to think of even more years of not knowing.... I was hoping they were closer than that...... but at least they are still working on the case!

This statement offers some hope that new evidence has turned up or suggests that more people may have come forward....... previously it appeared that they were getting to the end of the investigation , and now there are many, many, lines of enquiry, still to follow up.....

I agree SLouTH - as much as there’s always Hope, I see a renewed vigour in William’s investigation.

I think Gary provided more awareness via all his tribulations & the inquest has provided a new slant & kept the kettle bubbling.

Perhaps also people are finally getting the idea that ‘crumbs’ are very important. .. it’s enough of them that makes the ‘whole’ delight.

Also perhaps people are now feeling comfortable to come forward with their slightest Memory or ‘twinge’.

I’m so grateful for all those who come forward in the interests of this little boy. He deserves to still be in the loving embrace of his family members, not a ‘statistic’ at the hands of foul play.

Why? Not enough dedicated resources ? ?

Questions/ponderings:
Has it been said at the inquest the best mate Ray Porter spoke of to the nurse was actually FA?
Would a man refer to someone he feared as his best mate?
Who drove FA to the nursing home to visit Ray?
Who is Phil?

Most valid questions BlueClues.
I’m not privy to the answers, but I think surely the much more clued-up in our investigative departments will have explored & have the answers to these starting points ....

If Not ?

But I do believe & endorse the fact that they may have a lot of knowledge that’s not been made public ( as much as we want to KNOW, it’s my opinion that we must accept the need to strategic ‘secrets’ ) and I do believe that justice will be served for William . .. who knows how the penalties will play out.

We’re seeing movements but how hard is it / should it be to Be Real in regards the Values in our Society & the protection of our little & vunerable ?

Time to come together in Parliament to back in tougher sentences for child sex offenders
