Members are permitted to speculate, within reason, using whatever information is released by media or police. Anything over the top is removed.

A skip through just a few of the cases on WS alone will show just how painstaking police work is when it comes to gathering evidence.

A classic is the Baden Clay case. From day one police were sure about what happened to "missing" Allison yet it took almost two months of gathering evidence, after her body was found, before an arrest was made.

In William's case, rest assured, police will know the exact current movements of any POI or suspect.

I'm sorry but no matter what WS says, people will shine the worst light on it.

If LE had any evidence against him then he'd be detained beyond the questioning he has received so far.

The digging up of the back yard and the emptying of the septic tank was a highly visible thing for us. It's a very bad look for him. But that's not to say there aren't other people who have suffered similar incursions, just less visible. (I'm not saying the police shouldn't be doing this).

But.. if they found one dodgy photo, or one incriminating item of clothing, or one dodgy internet search... anything... if they have anything like that then there is no way on earth he'd be home.

The conspiracy theories emanating out of this group (such as maybe abuse photos have been found online) just don't add up. The police would come down on him like a tonne of bricks if they had found one hair or one fibre.

I followed a case that the LE (Police - for us) POI was not named until he was arrested..... The police in fact had already gathered circumstantial evidence, had video evidence of the person being in the area of where the crime was committed - BUT they waited over two months before arresting this man because they had him under constant surveillance in the hope that he would led them to the victims body. It became evident after he was arrested that they had even staged searches in different areas hoping for a reaction from him to see if they were looking in the right areas.

Just saying....a lack of an arrest doesn't necessarily mean that individual isn't who they will eventually arrest.

I haven't seen any posts suggesting photos or the like - I may have missed those.

Just suppose evidence of a wider paedophile network was discovered on someone's computer....would they arrest Joe Blow immediately? or gather more info and do a mass raid?.....been done before.

LE do all the hard work gathering as much evidence as possible but it's the Department of Public Prosecutions that give the ok for an arrest.

So if the evidence to date doesn't satisfy the DPP then it's back to the drawing board to gather more evidence.

The last thing DPP want is to go all in gang ho and have a complete miss trial handed down.

If only everything was.as easy as opening and closing a book

One good thing, we haven't heard the words baffled or no solid leads since Gary Jubelin took over the investigation.

Not saying anything against prior investigators, but it seems they have now had enough time to investigate other avenues and may no longer be baffled and have no strong leads.

Thank you for Posting this SouthAussie! I was just trying to see if they are searching again in that area. It is 7am here and looks like I have a lot of reading to catch up on! Relieved to hear the bones were not human!

Not sure Angeline - it wasn't a case I followed. All internet searches take me to the arrest/trial info. But at a guess on what I did happen to read...Police didn't come out and accuse him publicly...but they allowed the media to suggest his involvement....Hindsight...they had him on the radar from day one. The scratches on the face were a dead give away....what a moron!!! Another beautiful life taken by some arsehole.

FACS informed one of the mothers of the boys that they were investigating Spedding. I think it is likely they told her because they were removing the boys in December, and she has a right to know where her son would be living. I don't believe they are obliged to keep her informed of anything else, other than her son's living arrangements, while he is being fostered.

Three Children....Mother of one of the children. Now I'm really confused. Sheesh....I won't say what I'm thinking...or is that just bad reporting yet again.

Is there a bigger or another criminal investigation working in tandem with Williams disappearance going on?

At no time did police say they were baffled or had no solid leads. When they were questioned by media about the case, their standard reply was "no comment". They held all their cards very close and only released info if they felt it would help their investigation.....eg....had any member of the public noticed anything unusual at a certain roundabout. However, they did mention they were looking into a few "persons of interests".

Police kept on saying they were searching for Allison....which they continued to do until her body was located by a member of the public 11 days after she was reported "missing". The inspector in charge then called it a homicide and said they'd been calling it that for some time. Not too long prior to the discovery of her body, police were thinking of calling off the search.

Arrests can still be made even if a body hasn't been located....as long as police have enough evidence to show that a murder has been committed.

It wouldn't be that unusual for BS and MS to be looked into by FACS if they are officially fostering the grandchildren, and the grandchidlren's parents were PO'd about that. Bio parents of kids in fostercare do all kinds of nasty things to the people who have their children in their homes. That is kind of why I suspect that it is the same people who called crimestoppers to place a 'tip' irt BS.

It was mentioned in msm that BS and his wife were being interviewed early in December by FACS for some reason??... Apparently the Police were unaware of this...or at least that is what was reported.

If WS did not know the police would be searching that area, then there could be an innocent reason for him to drive past given that it's the fastest way to get onto the Pacific Hwy, but generally people don't use the highway when driving to local areas. Ocean Drive is more direct, even to Port Macquarie. You'd generally use the highway to get out of the area - an exception would be Wauchope (I think it's faster to use the highway to get there.)

If he did know about the search then it's bloody weird for him to drive past. You'd think he'd stay well away, unless he wants to be brazen and "prove" he has nothing to hide.

I am wondering if he was quoted by the news before or after he drove by. I am going on a hunch and say he knew they were there.

I would think so too. Maybe they just wanted to go over the land once by hand and then bring the dogs in for the second sweep.

Did police feel the need for this through their own enquiries or was it the tip. I am surprised BOMB squad is there before the SAR dogs. For some reason I can't load the links, but wow! Besides the obvious, can anyone think why? Cops are watching more people/places than just ground zero, so to speak. They are gonna get these bastards soon :drumroll:
