Just heard on Channel 7 news that BS will be charged with the sexual assault offences and will front court in the morning. Bail will be refused. Hopefully Channel 7 will post this video to the website soon.

We do have police scanners in Australia but they are illegal. That doesn't stop journo's from tuning in that's for sure. There is even an app you can download for your phone.

They aren't illegal in NSW. Sydney police have encrypted their radios in recent years although regional areas are still unencrypted. I would guess Kendall/Port Macquarie etc is almost certainly unencrypted and free/easy to listen too. That being said, I doubt Jubelin would announce over the radio where he is going - would be all mobile phones instead.

I'm not sure if it was in the last 20 pages but a plumber was called to BS house to do a repair shortly after William went missing and the plumber found an old shirt stuffed in a pipe. Most have dismissed it, since his grandchildren had been staying at the property at that time

Ok, the scanner itself is not illegal. Switching it on, tuning into police and emergency service channels and acting on that is illegal.

A PERSON of interest in the high-profile disappearance of toddler William Tyrrell is being quizzed over claims he sexually assaulted two girls almost 30 years ago.


WILLIAM Spedding was at his Bonny Hills home with his wife on the NSW mid-north coast when homicide detectives arrived on Wednesday.
Five detectives, including veteran homicide investigator Detective Inspector Gary Jubelin, swooped on the leafy property about 1.30pm and led Mr Spedding into a waiting station wagon.

His wife Margaret was heard telling police, "I've got nothing to say", before yelling at media to get off her property and closing the door.

Mr Spedding was taken to Port Macquarie police station, where he remained into the early evening being questioned over child sexual abuse allegations dating back to 1987.

The claims relate to a series of alleged sexual assaults on two girls, aged three and six, in Sydney.

It's understood detectives investigating the disappearance of three-year-old William were made aware of the claims after Mr Spedding was named in media reports.

Here is an entirely possible theory.

BS is not particularly bright or media savvy. He was supposed to go to the grandmother's home on that Friday morning but he did not. He sees the house some time later on TV and says something like "I think I have been there" (although we are only hearing third hand what BS is alleged to have said). Police start questioning him because he was supposed to be in the area in the morning and he just freaks out that he may be implicated and starts deleting phone messages.

The plumber sees a shirt in a pipe and, knowing that BS' name is being thrown around the town (it's a small town and everyone would have known that he had been questioned in the days afterwards), calls police. Man with links to the house, questioned by police in the days afterwards, now has a child's shirt shoved away in the plumbing. That's "reasonable suspicion" that would get a search warrant.

During the search warrant they find evidence of other abuse. So the police don't do anything to water down the media bloodbath against WS because they think that it might lead to information on WT. They don't find any more evidence of a link to WT but they do get enough evidence to arrest him for offences against other children back in 1987. The police have just lucked in on an opportunity to have media focus attention on BS in an attempt to draw out information relating to WT.

BS has absolutely nothing to do with the disappearance of WT.

I used to be a prosecutor. In my experience, paedophiles tend to stick to the same sex, especially with younger kids. I think it would be very unfair to assume that if he molested a 3 year old girl in 1987 that he is therefore responsible for the disappearance of WT.

I was thinking earlier that if his victims (or their parents) saw his name in the media after he originally caught the attention of the investigators, perhaps they called crime stoppers and reported the historical case of abuse. They might have been thinking that since he did it to them, he could have done it to William.

That's quite possible. Though he was already being investigated by FACS before his name came out. It could also be his victims are related to him

I have not given my opinion that he had nothing to do with it. I don't know whether he had anything to do with it. All we have are speculative media stories, second and third hand hearsay, inferences on the way someone has responded to something and occasional statements from police that don't really give away any information.

I have just posted a very plausible explanation for what happened.

Today's events give us hope. Let's hope BS gives up what he knows, if he does, and there is no long protracted process. That'd be unbearable.

Family services were investigating in December. (I think I read it here)
BS was arrested today for alleged historical abuse of 2 children. The situation is that they are a blended family, (both with children) the abuse was 1987. The S family have custody and care of the grandchildren.

I am sure that police/media said that BS had no history. The boys are the grandchildren, the sisters may not be.
