Public schools are not private land, which is why they can be used for government business (eg elections). However, the department of education has a legal duty of care to protect the identity and location of children in out of home care. All parents are required to sign a permission to publish form, and OOHC kids are automatically forbidden to have their photo published (even in the school newsletter).

Beyond that, how far each school implements the policy is up to them.

4 months seems far too long but as things have come to light - there seems to have been a lot of I's to be dotted and T's to be crossed.
Reading some of the older articles this one from 1 November 2014.

I think the from the police side of things the suspicion was there straight away she said.
"Just little things like looking at our CCTV. We were told not to delete anything and that was the next day.

It is out of town and out of the way. Who would be driving there on that day at that time - Sup Fehon said. YES WHO?

Police have looked up known sex offenders within a massive radius of Kendall with nothing to grab at.

What about persons that been accused of historical sex offences?
Crimestoppers were contacted early re BS historical charges.
Facs investigation commenced early December.
IMO

Police certainly did have their hinky meters buzzing ... from the very first day of William going missing.

At 2.35pm detectives are dispatched from Port Macquarie and begin taking statements. One of them speaks to a colleague, Detective Senior Constable Vanessa Partridge, back at Port Macquarie late that afternoon; they are worried something more sinister may have taken place.

Arriving at the house on Benaroon Drive, Partridge is thinking, “Something just doesn’t feel right about this whole thing.”

Yes SA - and the whirlwind developed.

BTW publicly owned spaces such as nursing homes, schools, child care facilities or hospitals are treated differently. They are deemed by the NSW Enclosed Lands Protection Act 1901 to have the same control rights as private land.
So don't imagine you can question someone's authority to prevent you from taking photos on (say) hospital-grounds.
It might be publicly owned land, but the ILPA means authorised persons can regulate your behaviour while on government property.

Despite everything Spedding has endured he seems to be coping, somehow. “He has an excellent attitude on life,” Youngberry says.
“The only time I seen him real upset was when they nabbed him and took him and Margaret in for an interview. He was devastated, wondering why. Why him? Just outta the blue.”

Why him? Just outta the blue.
I bet he was real upset.

I just get the feeling this was the first time MS was officially interviewed?

Does anyone know if MS has had to make a statement?

My point was that the private lands lists being posted don't apply to schools.

I don't think we have heard.
Spedding gave a 10-page statement to police, as well as a DNA swab, to assist with the investigation.
I am thinking if BS gave DNA then he had a copy of his statement - therefore MS would have known what he said his whereabouts for the day were.

“I have no worries about them going through everything because I knew they wouldn’t find anything belonging to William,” Mrs Spedding said.
But were there worries about his alibi?

imo

When you get to a certain age it is more difficult to remember details, so unless she had the statement to refer to, it is very unlikely her story of times etc would match his exactly.

I've had the best conversations and a good belly laugh with the police while breath testing me. Wonderful people just doing their job.

They wouldn't be laughing IF I WAS A DRUNK DRIVER!

I've often feared the police looking into my trusty iPad and seeing my research on murderous pedophiles, rapists, and women being thrown from balconies. But I know many of you would speak up for me....

well I'm hoping you might....

Why do I hear crickets!

Dont forget the screen shots of things LOL I wonder at times what the police would think if they looked into my computer. Years ago if the police come across a scrap book of news paper cuttings about a case, they took interest maybe that was sleuthing before computers/ipads/iphones.

Like you i have had great laughs with the police at breath testing, im also not swearing at them making pig noises etc.

I was not disagreeing with you, just adding to that, re Enclosed Lands.

Give me a break they're not in their eighties! :tantrum: You are making me feel old. . .

Yes Karo but raising children keep you young they say ... they don't let you forget much.

Oh darn, I am around their age with the care of young children, perhaps I am suffering some kind of memory loss, now I am concerned.
If I were asked where I was on the day of the last awards ceremony at the school, I know I could say I was there but I wouldn't be able to swear to who was with me or what time, I would need to refer to the photos I took AFTER the event. Lord help me when I am in my eighties. :shame:

Does anyone know if MS has had to make a statement?

The head of the investigation, homicide Detective Inspector Gary Jubelin, arrived at the Bonny Hills semi-rural property a few minutes after Mr Spedding was seen leaving in his work van about 8.30am.

Why didn't MS ring her husband to tell him what's happening, did the police advise her not to? Why didn't Spedding not come back home, he was only minutes away.
Coincidence IMO.

Unfortunately, I think Colin has probably decided by now to stop chatting to people about his mate.

I know he isn't an official POI, I do find old Col pretty interesting.. He's been a pal of old mate BS for yonks. They were friends in the 80s. Long time to get to know a person...

That does make you wonder would LE actually expect you to remember exactly what you were doing and at what time 4 months later if the day and event were not significant to you personally.

I guess if BS was interviewed and or gave a statement then it would not be 4 months later that MS had to recall that day.

That is assuming her husband had communicated with her - his discussions with LE.

According to a relative, the first time Mr Spedding had mentioned the baffling case was when he saw William’s grandmother’s home on television news reports and said “hey, I think I’ve been there”.

I am assuming that if he said I think I have been to that house then he may have also said in fact I was supposed to be at that house today BUT ??????

Apparently he is the husband of MS' cousin? If they were already friends before BS and MS got married maybe BS met MS through him.

LE don't seem to be interested in Colin though (I noticed that "Colin" is appearing as one of the keywords for this thread, lol.) The first we heard of him was when the house was raided and they went to stay with him.
