Author who studied serial killers commits suicide on 6-6-06

My initial thought was the same as Curious1's, that maybe what he heard and learned from those creeps so infected his brain that he started having evil thoughts. Or maybe he had those thoughts all along, but the intellectual part of himself tried to mentally dissect those guys and thereby learn why he had these thoughts so he could keep himself from becoming one of them. Maybe he started to feel that he couldn't keep myself from killing someone, so he killed himself instead to prevent it.

I love the Nietzsche quote. It states the dangers of his actions so precisely and poetically.

Maybe that's why he went into criminal defense rather than the profiling he had wanted to do. By being a criminal defense attorney, he'd have more opportunity to deal directly with the scum that so fascinated him.

I have DR inmates as pen pals and none of my letters are dark and ominous. They're actually nicer and more cheery than conversations I have with co workers.

To be TOTALLY HONEST - it's far scarier to realize how simmilar serial killers are to all of us than it is to realize how different they are. Read up on the BTK killer and see - that's your neighbor, your friend, your church leader - just a guy. Not a monster.
Or somone on a Web Sleuthing board. Hey Glitch you may not have dark and ominous letters from you DR penpals, but you probably scare the hell out of them. :croc:

Just kidding.

Actually, when I first started writing my favorite one in Florida, his mother told him to be careful of me. I thought that was hilarious. What am *I* to be a threat to a DR guy?

I'm not the one your mother warned you about. I'm the one DEATH ROW INMATES mother's warn THEM about!

ha ha No, really. I'm harmless.
