its 147am, considering a trek out to the oreilly car parts store right now. but i dont even know if there is a reason to.


its late, i cant really think straight as to what any of this new info even means,
unless that sedan in the auto parts store is the cabbies, i just dont see how he can be tied into this case. what time is cabbie on surveillance vids at ampm? if he is on camera there after her cell died and shes not in his cab or in lot, he seems pretty in clear. did he leave ampm lot, AND SOMEHOW found salinas at reillys? the LE was very very thorough w the cab driver, and while he is not completely free from scrutiny, im just now sensing he played role in her dissapearance. i could be wrong, perhaps very wrong on that.

did salinas have another bf, or was anyone at that party w a vehicle matching the descrip of car at oreillys..? i went thru her roomies fb, her fb, and instys, no pics of 4door dark sedans as i could see...

and IF cell phone was found, where was it found? at car parking lot?

KNEW you would! I really hope they release the footage... that would be very helpful.

I don't think I've chimed in on this case. ITA about the cab driver. A driver repeatedly calling a fare? Do people call the drivers? I thought they had dispatchers to do the checking. Did she know of someone who drove a cab in the wee hours?

And there's the rub. I ALWAYS used Discount so they may have a particular policy, they're a really big company. I do know that my neighbor who uses a cab regularly (she is disabled) has "her" driver's cell phone number but I don't know if that is something she has arranged through the company or not (she does not use Discount). I imagine, if the drivers are contractors, they can do whatever they want... this does bring up the question we've asked so many times though: why did she have HIS number? And, according to the father's interview, the "call came into dispatch". the volume of calls back and forth is what has me befuddled...

Did I just use the word "befuddled" out loud? :facepalm:

I own a small cab/limo company.
The driver assigned to a pickup is given the persons phone contact by the dispatcher. The driver is in direct contact with the fare to make it more efficient for the driver and client. There are lots of reasons why. It is even more important at night when most fares are drunk, or alcohol related.

I am a driver as well and I will give you my number one reason for calling the passenger/fare. I am out here to make money and every mile I put on my vehicle needs to be accounted for. Every minute counts. If I am scheduled to do a 5:00 am pickup, I do not want to waste my gas or time waiting around for a no show. I do not want to sit there for 10 minutes and wait. I am potentially missing other fares (costing me money). If I can speak directly with the client I can gain valuable information on their location and circumstances. If they answer their phone or make contact back I am pretty sure they will be at the designated/arranged pickup location.

I call and make a contact when I am about 5 mins away. I tell them my location/estimated time of arrival-expecting them to be ready and waiting. I make a second call upon arrival (unless they are there waiting). I may call them several times in a row now if they arent there and don't answer. It would be normal to get a call back from them (within a few minutes) if they still needed the cab and were just tied up for a moment. If they do not answer or call back (within minutes) I know they either dont need a cab any longer or got another cab thinking it was me ( or just got in the first cab they find). You have to remember when there is alcohol involved it can get really screwy, drunk people make this job completely random. You never know what will happen with them.

I will wait about 10 minutes. If I do not hear from them I leave. I either go back to the office, stop by my house and check websleuths, or head for another pickup. I am not a company that waits around in the walmart parking lot for fares or sits at the airport or other locations hoping to catch another fare. At this time of morning, 5 am. our business is slow or it is people going to work.

This is just my experience on why drivers call fares.

Sounds like the author is sticking by their source.

Seems like most of the cases I follow report when and if the victims phone is found. I have no clue what LE might gain or loose from divulging this information. I tend to "doubt" the phone myself, but will leave it in the "maybe" column.

I would be more interested in WHERE the phone was found. Given this information about O'Reilly's cam just surfaced yesterday and those reports were weeks(?) ago, if her phone WAS found in the vicinity of her home, en route to the AM/PM, she clearly did not call from O'Reilly's parking lot. :banghead:

I would like to see the family of Adrienne say they have seen the video and believe it is Adrienne. I think we will be hearing about that from the father soon. In cases I have followed in the past a family member will come out either confirm or deny if its their loved one.

In the article last night, the part about the car on tape is the very last thing in the article. I am not sure this is news, except to us, and it does not really say that LE is looking for that car or wants tips about the car.

Also, did Adrienne leave three times that night/morning? Once with Bf, once in her car and once on foot??

I am not going to focus too much on the phone. For all we know it was found in the "big overnight bag" left at her apartment. I am really hoping to see someone in the family confirm this is Adrienne on the video. ASAP.

My suspicion is still at the party goers that night. WHEN Adrienne's family gives us a definite YES, that the person on video is Adrienne then I may change focus.

The FBI is on this. I hope they can identify the make and model of that car seen in the parking lot.

I wonder if the video time stamps are correct.

Yes I have questioned the video time stamps too, since they have been off in other cases.

I'm going to focus on the phone for one more minute... if the phone was in the overnight bag, how did she call the cab? Okay... I'll be quiet about it now.

Okay heres what Im thinking......

(1): The boyfriend never gave her the cell back when he found it in his car and that's why the police have it

(2): They found it in the cab and this is why they wont going into details about the cabbie right now. OR

(3): They found it in one of their canvas searches and that's why the FBI got involved.

Just my own thoughts here....

Miss, didn't you say Pooley mentioned the bag still being at the house? Guess he was wrong as I suspected.

"During a police interview, the boyfriend, Francisco Arteaga, said Salinas got upset with him because he was talking with other people and was "not paying enough attention to her," the report said.

Salinas told him to leave and when he went out to his car, she followed him, got inside and told him to take her to his house in Scottsdale, officers said.

Arteaga said they continued to argue about their relationship, even when they arrived at his house, police said. Arteaga said during their argument inside the house, he stepped out to get some air and when he came back, Salinas was gone, police said.

Arteaga said ***he found Salinas walking toward Indian School Road and told her he would take her home. As he drove her back toward her apartment, he stopped at a red light at Fifth Street and Mill Avenue when Salinas opened the door, climbed out and started walking again.***

The police report said ***Arteaga realized Salinas had *left her cell phone on the seat of the car, so he got out to give her back the phone* and allowed her to keep walking toward her apartment alone.****

Arteaga told police he found 11 missed calls from Salinas between 4:10 a.m. and 4:17 a.m., including a text message that stated "I'm coming over," sent at 4:43 a.m., but she never did.

Police said *****surveillance video from O'Reilly Auto Parts at 1002 W. University**** showed a slender woman walking through the west parking lot of the store at 4:52 a.m. A dark four-door vehicle is also seen heading northbound through the same parking lot two minutes later, according to the police report."

I KNEW THE CAMERAS in that parking lot would CATCH HER WALKING and I figured she cut through that lot to get to the AMPM!!!!!!!!
