Great observations! Tells allot - for one, your feeling about which side of the road is the safe side. Indicates she was paying more attention to her safety than I originally thought.

Any chance the bright lights are new, after this happened to AS?

Wonder about the kind of surveillance cam used - should have better images with all that light?

Yes, that thought occurred to me as well. About her judgement. But it was still creepy even all lit up. That's a very busy intersection, btw. The AM/PM store across the street seems much more remote actually, even though it isn't. It's not nearly as brightly lit as O'Reilly's is.

The street lights appeared to be older. They were a very bright white and were on each corner of the parking lot. They illuminated very well. I looked for the security cams but couldn't see them.

There were dark colored 4 door sedans all over the place. Lots of them. That corner of O'Reilly's is probably used as a turn around by a lot of people who live in that area. Better than doing a Yewy in the middle of University. ;)

After thought - if you felt you being followed, would you go into the brightly lit lot, or would you thing you might get trapped in there?

I'm curious as to why they haven't released the video at O'Reilly's so that maybe the person walking recognizes themselves and comes forward to say if she saw anything walking near the area the same time AS was in the area.

exaaaaactly.....this is usually standard procedure!

i noted on my last trip to the area, that the back patio of cornish pasty (a great restaurant /bar!!!) faces north towards 7th street.

i dont think, or know, if they have surveillance on the patio... its the first business on the northeast corner of the ampm lot that runs along hardy...

my thinking is, IF salinas crossed over to oreillys, how soon did she cross over? its possible she walked the entire length of hardy down to ampm, and then crossed over from oreillys to ampm.

tough to note why she would, as various parts of hardy feel unsafe on both sides, there is no real 'right' way to walk that street in terms of safety, it is what it is.

until that surveillance footage is dismissed, or embraced, i feel like (for me,) this case treads water and is stuck being able to move forward based on that info being useless, or not.

maybe, what ifs, just don't seem fair to assess with the info provided now; until something is substantiated, or not.

perhaps LE has a good lead they just can't leak....

That thought definitely occurred to me. I imagined all kinds of scenarios in which she might have wanted to go back there and there is no reason I can think of why she wouldn't have continued walking straight ahead or crossed the street to walk into the entrance of the AM/PM.

No reason I can see her going in that parking lot of O'Reilly's UNLESS she wanted to see if someone was there that could help her with her vehicle.

See, the thing is there are a lot of cars parked in that parking lot, even after closing, so it's possible if she was there she could have thought someone might be working.

Anything's possible of course.

But unless that were the case I can't see why she would go through that parking lot unless she was taking a shortcut and was heading further West down University.

Maybe there's not really a video. I've seen the tactic used before...
There actually is a video, Jo. It was discussed last night at the Vigil ... and dismissed. ;)

<o/t, not trying to derail the thread, but for the record, just so yall don't think I'm some kind of psycho :floorlaugh:....Before that incident, I did kindly ask this other woman to please keep her paws off my man, that he was very taken. Yes, it takes 2 to tango, but there is nothing worse than a purposeful homewrecker who gets a thrill out of romancing taken men, going against the code of your fellow woman! JMO>

So, Adrienne's mindset, if she was on a mission or feeling desperation, maybe she got in a car with someone else bc the taxi was late? IDK....

About last night...I'm going to be posting about my experience there in just a few minutes but I do want to say this because it seems important right now to say it.

I spent a few minutes talking to the BF last night at the Vigil. He was so nice and very extremely sincere about Adrienne. My heart went out to him. His mother and his dad were there with him. They are lovely people as well.

I do not want to quote him as I think it would be inappropriate but I do not think he is in any way responsible for her disappearance.

Again, in my experience I mentioned above, I was on foot alone in the middle of the night....(It took me all night to find them. Apparently I was a sleuther back then, lol...). Cars would eerily follow, so when I saw lights approaching from behind me in the distance, I would run and hide til they passed...(in ditches, behind trees)...This also happened to me when I was accidentally left at a bar one night...Any woman walking alone in the middle of the night is a target.

This means a lot! Wow! Very cool!!!

The Lynsie Ekelund case is one. LE had a fake reporter inform the suspect that remains had been found. No remains had been found. LE was successful in securing a confession.

Maybe not important (I don't know) but I find it odd:

"According to Tempe police, a witness who was driving to work in the early morning hours of June 15 saw Salinas' car driving erratically at about 3:40 a.m. The witness said the car passed her near the Rio Salado Parkway and struck a curb, flattening both the driver's-side tires. The car sped off on the damaged tires before the woman could check on the driver, according to the police report. The witness called the police, but responding officers were unable to locate the car, the report says."

bbm - why were the officers not able to find the car? The witness told them she sped off, and we know Adrienne abandoned the car not very far away. So, were the officers not following the indicated direction? Otherwise they must have seen the car I would assume.

I think I might be able to answer this question. (Are you really in India, btw?) Here in the Scottsdale, Tempe area we have a lot of drivers who get really put out with each other. They routinely call in to report the bad driving habits of another driver. I once had a cop follow me into the Circle K and ask me if I had been drinking because another driver called in and reported I was driving erratically. I was just putting on my makeup. LOL I explained to the cop and he actually thought it was funny.

They might not have taken the call as seriously as it obviously was. The caller didn't know the extent of the damage. She complained about them tailgating. They could have thought she was mad because of that. The cops probably didn't look that hard as they thought the vehicle had left and was out of the area.

<last of the o/t, now that I'm old, I'm like, "If you want to cheat, go right on ahead! I can't stop you from doing what you want to do, but I'm not gonna stick around either and cry about it! Do what you want to do! Your loss! I'm not going to let your actions turn me into a nutjob!>
