Found Alive AZ - Alicia Navarro, 14, autistic, Glendale, 16 Sep 2019 *found in 2023* #2

FEB 11, 2025
Her mother, Jessica Nuñez, told NBC News on Tuesday that Navarro is with her, but she did not disclose further details. She also said she was pleased with Davis' sentencing.

"I am very happy that he is behind bars and he won't cause anymore harm," she said in a statement. "I can't recover the years that I was not with her and I cannot change the trauma but I can appreciate my daughter is alive and that we are healing together as a family."
Fantastic news! Much credit to LE and prosecutors who found a way to deal with this guy. For so long, it seemed like no one was going to hold him accountable.

Respectfully, I disagree. When law enforcement says things like that it is almost about an adult who has chosen to cut off ties with their “old life” for whatever reason. It’s not a crime for an adult in the U.S. to make the decision to disappear. Alicia was a 14-year-old minor child when she left home and she was found living with a much-older adult male. Obviously, there was suspicion that a crime had been committed and rightfully so. LE could not just leave her alone without knowing that she was completely safe, that’s their job. Now, putting her face immediately on social media is another story and I did have my qualms with that, as well.

MOO.
It doesn't matter what age she was when she left. She was already an adult when she went to LE to notify them she was okay and wanted to be left alone. LE should've done their job quietly but no, they had to post her all over social media. She just wanted to be left alone...

It does matter. The man who lured her away from home when she was 15 yrs old committed a serious crime. He also took her to another state. Fortunately, he's been tried for those crimes and will now spend many years in prison, where he can't abuse other young girls.

<modsnip> Assuming someone "lured her away from home", assuming he was the one who did it, assuming he abused Alicia. That's a lot of assumptions that we don't have info to support. He was tried and convicted for crimes not related to Alicia, this has been said time and time again. <modsnip: personalizing> I hope she's happy and healthy where she is right now, and most of all, that it's what she wants.

<modsnip> At minimum, AN was undoubtedly lured away with some kind of false promise or idea. Minor children do not any legal right to just leave their parent/guardian. It doesn't need to be violent or coerced (like Elizabeth Smart). Even if she wasn't lured away, giving shelter to a minor/helping a runaway is illegal.

The fact that they tried to say that they were uncle-and-niece, among other lies, makes it pretty clear that something was grossly off, even if he wasn't convicted of/charged with abusing her.

I'm perfectly content with not knowing the full picture of what happened. It would probably be deeply traumatic to AN to uncover the full extent of what happened and for that to be in the public record (if he was charged and tried for abusing her).

I believe there was a high probability that a crime had been committed. She was 14 when she disappeared so if she was with someone on a sexual relationship, a crime was committed and can't be ignored. If that was the case, a possible predator should not be left on the loose since there is a great likelihood of recurrence.

I am troubled by this case for a different reason. We often hear LE making statements like "just come forward and let us know you are okay and we won't tell anyone." Alicia Navarro did come forward and say she was fine and wished to be left alone and they still went ahead and blew her up. This is a high publicity example showing that LE cannot be trusted. We all know LE lie regularly, so some might just say this is only evidence of what we know. Fair enough. IMO This situation will make it less likely that others come forward to reveal themselves and that is unfortunate.

The man was suspected of grooming and taking Alicia from her home when she was a minor. When they further investigated they found CSAM on a device he tried to hide involving other children some under the age of 5. Alicia's case was and still is HUGE. If they had not come out and made statements how do you think this would have played out? I am just curious. Would she have returned to this man that was possibly looking to drag in a much younger child? Are we even sure she wanted to be "left alone" she has not made a statement herself... could her wanting to be left alone have been something the police said so she would be safe from him until they could find something solid to hold him with? Them going public also IMO kept her safer. They split the second things got hot. They managed to stay off the radar all those years who is to say they wouldn't have done just that again? Did Alicia possibly even tell them this? We have no idea. I think LE handled it the way they deemed best with the information they had that we most likely do not. After he was arrested she has had a very much private life just like she wanted. People would have been suspicious if her Mom would have just dropped off the face of the earth and quit looking for her child after being so public with her searching. Which would have lead to Alicia still not having a privacy.
