You know I've been thinking about the phone call and text from her parents that night. I wonder why her dad felt the need to text her after her mom had spoken to her earlier.?My son lives less than 10 min. from us . But he goes into NYC a lot of weekends and also travels a bit. In fact, he spent 3 weeks last August in San Fransisco. He will text us or we will usually text him when he's gone just to touch base. When he's away my husband will ask if I heard from him and vica versa. Sorry to ramble, but if I told my husband that he texted me, my husband won't text him since we've heard from him. My point is did Allison say something to her mom that caused concern, and that is why her dad texted her the same night?

That was my initial thought too, Luv. Was there something he was concerned about? Why did he text her so late?

But then, all the news reports at first quoted the father as saying everything in her life was perfect. "She had no negatives in her life."

He never hinted at any time that he had felt anything was wrong, before his call didn't go through.

I'm still not sure if Allison's mom talked to her that night or texted or or if it was Allison who texted her mom around 8:00 p.m. (I think it was MN time).

It was reported that Allison's mom was a flight attendant and had to be carried off the plane on a stretcher when she heard the news the next day. It could be she was out of town on a trip Tuesday night and that's why both her mom and dad were involved in calls/texts, etc.

Interesting thought Luv. However, maybe they each had unrelated 'conversations' with her. I know that my son lives in Montana and often times I will talk to him or be texting with him about something and that same night my husband (his step-dad) will text him about something else. They chat about motorcycles, etc. Since mom had talked (texted?) her earlier, maybe dad was texting her about something unrelated. IIRC, she was about to go on a trip so both parents may have been discussing that with her. I know both of my parents (and I am 47 years old) give me travel tips, safety warnings, check to see if I need any money (yes, lol) etc. when I am going somewhere.
It seems the family was pretty close, so I can see that happening.
I sure wish the family would do an interview or something to give us a better picture of what was going on in Allison's life. I mean, I know she was preparing to be engaged, etc. but specifically things like...did they like the guy? Who do they suspect? What was her state of mind as of late, etc.
Perhaps some of this has already been covered and I have missed it.

Midge, from everything I've read and seen, the dad was very fond of the BF. Even to the tune of buying him a ticket to go to Shanghai for a grad school project when his ticket got cxled due to his not showing up for the flight when he went to Minnesota for Allison's funeral.

I don't know what the mom's feelings were. But the sister also seemed very fond of him.

They were obviously a very close knit family and they have said they spoke every day.

But I am wondering if they spoke to her that Valentine's Day weekend. Could it be they didn't because they were giving their daughter space for a romantic weekend with her future fiancee?

They never mentioned talking to her that weekend and everything was fine or talking to her on Monday and all was fine.

Maybe they didn't? And maybe all wasn't fine.

Just saying.....we don't really know.

I
You absolutely could be right. I was just throwing it out there. Supposedly, her parents liked,Alex very much. They were happy he's Jewish and have stated , she was very happy with him. But, I don't think her parents could have really could have known him well since they live quite a distance away. I wish they would speak out more, too. I wonder if they've been given information by LE and are purposely keeping quiet.

BBM:

YES!!! I'm thinking this is very well the case. FWIW, they are not speaking to the media either.

OT: I am seeing more ads than usual today. Is anyone else? I ask this because I just installed a new free antivirus program on my desktop yesterday. I just don't recall seeing this many ads before and wonder if that could be why.

hmmm......

I am too,but I'm on my IPad.

I agree, the Valentine's picture is a little creepy but I honestly think it was just her or him taking a pic of the holiday.

I do feel something definitely could have happened that weekend considering it is so close to her time of death.

I went to one of the funerals and Valentine's Day was actually discussed. I believe they went to a comedy club, pretty low key or else was made to seem that way.

I'm seeing lots of ads right on the posts and also, along the right hand side. In fact, the posts are jammed way over to the left side of the screen. I wonder if they did some kind of upgrade.

Hi again Lilac,

BBM: Yes, because it was the weekend before and also because that was the last post Allison made....that's why we are so interested in that pic. And what happened that weekend.

I'm glad you got to go to the funeral. That is very interesting and I know you will tell us more when you feel like sharing.

I was wondering if the BF had returned from Shanghai and was at the service that was held for her here in Scottsdale. Would you by any chance know that?

Why were they talking about Valentine's Day? Any particular reason?

I'm so interested in hearing what you have to share.

:)

Yeah they did. The site was down night before last so possibly an upgrade. More ads. LOL!

I remember reading yesterday that there were problems on the site the night before. I think there were some upgrades done.

I'm not sure if he went to the funeral in Scottsdale which I would think would be very important to someone so close and in love! Honestly, I don't know how he went overseas so soon after her death.

I attended the funeral here in Minnesota and it was a very somber event as I'm sure you can imagine. He actually spoke of the two of them and brought up Valentine's Day. He was very hard to understand so it was hard to hear all of his stories.

I have a lot I could say about this but not sure what all is allowed on here!

I've been following this case very closely since the beginning and came across this website. It was so nice to hear that others are so much involved and wanting answers as well.

It's all been so horrible and surreal. I still can't even believe it.

I sure wish LE would reveal more details, anything that could possible help the case!

Lilac, thank you for sharing that. We're all so sorry for your loss. Allison seemed to be a wonderful, accomplished woman. She was at the prime of her life. It's so tragic. We want this solved and that person brought to justice.

Yes, I can understand how one might feel about going out of the country so soon. Her father seemed supportive, however. Even paying for his ticket.

I think a lot of us here wonder why he has been so silent, except for his one twitter tweet about the ticket. We find that unusual.

At the funeral, when he spoke and it was hard to understand him, is that because of his accent? Or was it because of his emotions?

We are all very interested in what you have to share. Just remember we can't sleuth anyone here who has not been named a POI or Suspect in the case. I'm sure you are aware of that, however.

We can still put our feelings out there, however, and stay within TOS.

I'm sure it has been HORRIBLE! If it's horrible for those of us here we can only imagine how horrible it must be for a friend or family member.

My heart goes out to you! And yes...we want nothing more than for new details ...anything...this case to be solved.

It could be, Bernina. But my son's GF is from Russia. She moved here when she was 5. She's very outgoing, warm and quite talkative. She has no accent at all. However, it could be the way he was brought up, though.

Thank you! I'm not much of an insider, I used to be a neighbor years ago. I really don't know anything about the bf.

There was a group of us at the funeral and we all felt that his eulogy was very hard to understand. A combination of factors, really. Accent, emotions, very quiet spoken. Let's just say it was very different. But maybe it's also a cultural difference as well.

That's okay, Lilac. I don't know a lot about being a verified insider but if you know the family and you were there at the funeral, and Bessie did send you an invitation, you could become verified and then you could post more openly about some of the things you were saying you wished you could share.

I don't know what you were referring to but I know how much it helps to have others to talk to and I'm sure that even verified insiders have certain rules they must follow but it would probably make it easier for you.

Why not give it some thought.

But it's entirely up to you, of course.

Just because you were a neighbor years ago does not diminish your importance here on this thread.

We are thrilled to have you here, even though we deeply regret the circumstances that brought you to us.

:)

That's interesting about the accent, emotions etc. Yes I can understand that being a factor.

Thanks for the welcome. :) I will definitely look into the invitation once I have a little more time. I've got plans and am about to walk out the door.

It's so disturbing to me to think that whoever did this is still out there! It's also made me much more aware of my surroundings and who could be watching or around my home.

I really go back and forth on whether it was someone very close to her or someone she has had contact with in the past or home maintenance, etc.

You just think that anyone close to her (bf or other) would have already had their DNA taken and ruled out.

Again, we're so happy to have you with us.

BBM: It really doesn't matter which way you are leaning when it comes to who you might suspect. We have a lot of different theories floating around here and we have finally reached a point where we aren't really fighting over them anymore.

Now that's what I call progress! Ha!

Yes, I agree on the ruling out of anyone they've already collected DNA on. One would think that's the first thing they would do, especially since LE came right out and said they could prove who did it and who didn't.

That makes me go Hmmmmmmmm!!!

Hope you have a great day Lilac! :)

I had a dream that a hotel clerk was the killer. He got her address from her DL. This case is haunting me. Welcome Lilac! I hope you can give your thoughts or theories on what you think. We aren't allowed to sleuth anyone specific since nobody has been named a POI but we can give our thoughts on how it all played out. I hope that makes sense.
