She may have thought that would make her story of "my husband was raping me" more believable? Stan originally confessed to hitting him with a hammer to get Dale off of her b/c he was raping her.

that's my guess.

In the police interrogation MD said Dale was forcing her to have sex, so I guess he would not have shorts on if this was to be considered true? That's the best I can come up with.

Maybe she wanted one last look at the object she came to loath. Exposing his genitals as a form of humiliation?
