I was curious about Officer Involved Shooting statistics by city and by state so I started googling. I was shocked to find out that the FBI keeps statistics on crimes throughout the US but NOT Officer Involved Shootings. One man started in 2005 doing it on his own.
California had the most; Delaware had the least with 0 in 2011. Phoenix ranked 6th in 2011. The statistics were not per capita.
This would be a fascinating socioeconomic/criminal justice research project for someone pursuing their Masters or Doctorate. Maybe it has been done and I have not found it yet.
To not police the police is a sign of complacency IMO. When I worked as a RN, my gosh, we were policed. IMO, most of the police officers I know are incredibly professional and good, honest, hard working people. I would like to think that those we entrust with the safety and welfare of our fellow citizens are not dishonest, rash thinkers nor quick to anger. JMV
