I wonder what will happen to the officers that compromised the scene and investigation. I guess if RC is found guilty, heads may roll. Wouldn't a guilty verdict be a referendum on the PPD?

I would think it would be, and hopefully changes would be in order. I think JM proved they changed the scene so even if he's not found guilty I'd hope for changes.

I really do not understand the judge not allowing RC being on the Brady List to come in, he's a proven liar on the stand, that's what kind of cop he was, and that's the cop that killed Daniel, I can hardly think of more relevant information for the jury. I can see the crack pipe planting as being prejudicial maybe but not the Brady List inclusion.

Absolutely, MeeBee...you & others might find this link relevant. This murder by cop happened just down the street from me. The state Dept. of Criminal Investigation was called in to investigate. I attended the "conclusive" press conference; Mrs. Shaw was sitting outside the room with tears streaming down her face. I felt so helpless; I just went up & hugged her, and told her how sorry I was, and that there were LOTS of us pulling for them. Not one cop or investigator spoke out against the cops involved in the killing, and J. Patrick White (who is a <censored> coward, IMO) refused to convene a grand jury or investigate in any way. I still get teary & outraged when I think of this case. Bravo to Juan for having the guts to prosecute; and bravo to Ofc. Virgillo, as well.

My Opinion Only

How very sad! Very biased city also!

I live in a very small town population about 4200. We had a young man shot behind our house by a LE, he was just wounded though. His mother called the cops because of a sort of DV. The young man ran out of the house with a gun and when LE showed up they shot him. Long story short the man had mental depression and bi-polar and ended up committing suicide because they were going to send him to prison.

Mehrens said that Juan basically lied when he said that Chrisman said he got there first. ?? Then he reads from VERGILLO's transcript where Vergillo said "we got there about the same time." He noticeably doesn't read from CHRISMAN's transcript to show what Chrisman himself said. That is SO misleading. The point Juan was making was that Chrisman CLEARLY said he got there first, that Vergillo falsely hit the button saying he had arrived on the scene (to make his response time appear quicker), that he was waiting by the entrance to the trailer park and looking up the map....THEN VErgillo shows up. TThat is what Chrisman says, I took no notes and I remember that. That was a BAD example by Mehrens to "prove" that Juan was lying.

Well, the other one that got me was when he says that Virgillo did not say on the stand that he was scared of Chrisman and that is not something that he's consistently said. I don't know if that shows up in all his interviews, but he was very clear on the stand when he said he was scared of Chrisman and was scared that he would shoot him.

Nurmi did the same thing. Said Jodi never said she returned her gas cans to the same store when she DID say it and several times.

Defense attorneys.

Meebee, I didn't see the video of that part of Vergillo's testimony, but EVEN without watching the video, I know he said it b/c I remember reading the tweets regarding his testimony recently, and he said he was afraid Chrisman could turn the gun on hiim and was afraid b/c he didn't know what Chrisman would do. I know that and I didn't even see the video!! LOL.

You're right about Nurmi, I don't get why they do that?? My theory is that since the closings are not in "evidence," then technically they can get away with lying? Or maybe they are required to say whatever their client wants them to say in closings (since not evidence). I'm thinking the latter. They are probably required to say what their client wants since they are representing their client, in Nurmi's case it would make perfect sense that Jodi would completely lie about that....and Chrisman has similar narcissism so he thinks he can get away with it.

I'm ready...but now that you mention it, I'll have to make a supermarket trip before they get underway and buy some more chocolate! :)

Seems like JM needed these orders at the beginning of the trial instead of the end.

thanks Geevee! I don't see how it would matter at this point b/c the judge probably won't let anything in about Chrisman anyway.

Maybe it's for a future investigation, such as if an acquittal comes down and the Feds want to look into rights violations, but at this stage it seems rather odd. Can't imagine JM only wanted to see if there was anything he could use in closing, but I'm not all that familiar with filings, maybe it's pretty normal, I don't know, but it seems strange at this late date.

Did Mehrens call JM out as an "idiot" in his Macbeth quote? I think what would have been a more appropriate quote would have been "What's done cannot be undone." jmo

I couldn't find a working stream when Mehrens began so didn't hear that, only saw the tweets that stated such - but I like your quote better.

Yesss....even Nurmi didn't go that low in front of the jury. I think Juan's reply to that is gonna be "when they don't have anything to show, they resort to attacking the prosecutor"...lol!

wow how childish, when he has nothing he clearly thinks it is ok to bash the prosecutor...really? how old is he, 5???

i agree, nurmi didn't even stoop that low, because he probably agreed with everything juan said

So the jury has the case? Just trying to catch up; catching up is all I can do lately lol! Thanks!

Not yet, the defense isn't finished with their closing argument, the jury ought to get the case sometime around lunch (before or after). Don't know if this judge let's JM rebut or if he's all done, he sounded done when he finished and asked them to find RC guilty of all three charges yesterday but don't know.

ETA: If Mehrens takes as long as JM did, jury won't get the case till late afternoon. lol

You took the words right out of my mouth (or fingers in this case, LOL).
