I believe last count was 13 hours but spanning 4 days!

That's pretty pitiful, an average of 3 and a bit hours per day.

Trial Diva Sharee™ ‏@TrialDivasS 2m @liebenlaramutti The only African American juror was excused due to illness...no Hispanics that we know of. That was brought up at voir dire

Is that deliberate? No Hispanics I mean. That's like the victim is white we can't have any white people on the jury

I recall the tweets from jury selection, JM complaining that the defense wanted to strike the only Hispanic left in the pool, judge overruled him and struck, so the African American was the only non-white and was dismissed due to illness (was it still during the prosec. c.i.c.?).

Thanks everybody! Guess I'll hang here with y'all for awhile. :floorlaugh:

Did I read the judge isn't very fond of Juan?

La di da....hours turning into days....maybe this jury can just stay and do the CMJA re-trial too!

  • #230
And why are they bringing thier lunches, do they think another 1.5 hour is gonna make a difference at this point? Everyone's already waited 4+ days....

If I remember right, Chrisman complained there was a hispanic juror and prosecutor. The prosecutor couldn't be changed so the juror was let go. I personally think it was crazy.

I will go back and try to find it. It is in thread #1, before opening Statements.

Great idea ... call Sheriff Joe!

Since it's not a DP case, if it's a guilty verdict, doesn't the judge just set a sentencing date in 30 - 60 days?

This is crazy for a Court System to be run like this. They are only requiring these juror's in AZ not only for this trial but apparently for all their trials to run 1/2 days. It is no wonder their court system is so backed up. :banghead:

Thanks Jewels :) Couldn't remember exactly how it occurred. Sort of set the tone for how the judge was going to rule on JM's motions and objections throughout, huh?

I'm still very steamed at the judge for reading the 'Not guilty' on the verdict form first to the jury, I hope JM has that looked into, I don't see how that could ever be proper from the bench.

So instead of JA being on the stand for 18 days she was really only on there for only 9 days. According to the AZ court schedule, it just felt like 18 days. :floorlaugh:

i think in this case it probably will b/c judge will have to figure out exactly how many years to sentence him for....i think....

and so every trial is only 1/2 day and thus take double the time! You're right, that is so crazy! I believe in CMJA's trial it was way under that even b/c they would always start late.
