So is it true that he can't be a cop anymore (after he gets out of prison)? SOmeone said on twitter if you get charged with Agg. Assault then you can't legally own a gun, is that true?

I sure hope the next phase is live-streamed...please God....

I would love to hear an interview with one of those jurors after it's all over (preferably on "self-defense" side so I can hear their side and how they viewed the evidence)....

one thing Juan can do better on if they have re-trial....he needs to go over and EXPLAIN all the different items under the "self-defense doctrine" b/c it is very confusing, and one part can pertain to animals and one can't, and two parts are THREATENING use of physical force, and one is USE OF DEADLY FORCE. So for example, one question, does the jury look at "threatening to use physical force" or should they only look at "use of deadly force." He did mention to jurors that they MUST go by these instructions in the instructions they got, but I think he could have explained them better, and obviously the jury didn't ask any questions about them....

A jury on Tuesday convicted former Phoenix police Officer Richard Chrisman of aggravated assault in a 2010 confrontation inside a South Phoenix trailer that left an unarmed man dead but deadlocked on two other charges, including second-degree murder.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Warren Granville set a 1 p.m. hearing on aggravating factors on the assault count, which may include testimony about emotional harm to the victim's family. The judge also ordered that Chrisman be held in custody until sentencing given the aggravated assault conviction involved a weapon.

Chrisman's wife sobbed uncontrollably outside the courtroom following the reading of the verdict.

I think you are correct. I can't remember if this was charged as a class 2 felony or a class 6 felony. Regardless, he will never be a cop again and may not own a gun. The best he can hope for is working as a crossing guard holding up a stop sign.

I also think next time (if happens), he should take out the "animal cruelty" charge so jury doesn't get confused. Besides, there is no prison time for it, so just leave it out. Just put in 2nd degree murder that way jury doesn't get confused.

According to the docket it's F3.

Seriously? HLN are really sore loosers, for all the "Juan Bashing" they did during the Arias trial, they should just shut up. I doubt any of those talking heads have the track record of convictions Juan has.

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh: No, not even that, the poor children don't deserve to be assaulted when he goes into one of his rages.

I think the clerk said 'foreperson #4'.

RC can be on the hook for fines up to $150K and restitution to victims family as a result of being found guilty of agg assault. I read where the family's case against RC had been settled earlier. Can the jury award DR family additional monies?

That's just low. They weren't even covering the trial. Now they take the opportunity to gloat on his hung jury? Hey, he got a conviction, too.

Wow. Presumptive term of 7.5 years.

Plenty of time for them to get through the inevitable pre-retrial motions and all the delaying motions and back on with the trial. I hope the community will keep the pressure on the DA to retry at least the 2nd degree murder charge, if not the animal cruelty.

He's been convicted of a Felony. That bars him from owning/using/possessing a firearm and holding a position in LE for the rest of his life. If he is retried on the animal cruelty, and found guilty, he may never be able to possess an animal either. That would be if he was convicted on a county level and Sheriff Joe had anything to do with it.
Because he was fired from LE, he doesn't have his LE pension either. Saw some twit tweet about Chrisman getting his tax paid pension but that's not right.

I have no sympathy for his wife. She knows what kind of person he is. And those children are better off NOT being under his influence. At least the step children can say he's not their bio dad. I don't think his wife will make many visits down to see him either. I don't like Chrisman...can you tell?

Pretty amazing slag coming from a thinly veiled info-tainment channel that has pimped JA's sex recording 597,000 times.
