I feel that it would be best if the tribe was able to build a larger "children's home" for kids and families to get the help they need in their own community. Where families have the ability to check on them. Where cultural needs are met.

Congregate care (referenced in the article) can often expose children to negative influences and lead to more problems.

I am not sure how many spots there are to pull off the road in the area, it could just be a convenient spot, not a lot of traffic at night?
That part of Highway 60 leads to the White Mountains of Eastern Arizona a couple hours north of Globe. There's actually another Apache rez up there. As far as pullouts, there are some old ranch or forest roads that lead off the highway. Many are gated but there's a wide spot in the road that people can pull off. There was no formal rest areas up that way the last time I drove it in 2016.

As far gang activity, not sure about that area of Mesa. My daughter used to live just south of that intersection until about 5 years ago. Her neighborhood was fine but areas around it weren't. I never liked that specific intersection.

Not much formal gang activity in Globe. There's a ton of drugs. In the 80s, it was coke. Since the early 90s, it's mostly been meth, but the movement is not organized enough to be called "gang".

I felt so sad when I learned she was only 25 miles from home. The reason I asked about gangs is another case I am following the young lady seemed to be involved with a young man in a gang and was about the same age. I am beginning to worry the perp was someone she knew, someone she trusted to get her home :(.

Some of the coverage of Emily's goodbye.

chilling to think it is quite possible that the murderer(s) could be in the crowd. I am hopeful they are caught soon.

Bbm.
Chills. 🤬
Makes me so angry if that was the case.
Well also horrifying if a stranger did it--- but adds a level of depravity if it was someone she thought was safe !
Hoping for an arrest(s) SOON !!!!!!!!!

I had really hoped to check in and see news of arrests or at the very least POIs. Bless ReDrum for escorting her to her final resting place.

Same, I hope they find some answers soon. The Interview room had Dr Gary Brucato and Anne Burgess on yesterday,. Glad to see this case getting more coverage.

The original post on the Mesa PD page said Missing/Runaway. I assume they pegged her as a runaway because she was in a group home, but I have no idea what evidence they used to come to that conclusion beyond that.

They haven't released time of death as far as I can tell. They hadn't even released date of death the last time I looked.
Yes, I just saw a news story that said she had initially run away, which is not unheard of when one is talking about "group homes". And if so, it very well could have been someone she did not know that picked her up. The dismemberment, IMHO, may have just been a ploy to stop identification from occurring. This is such a sad and horrendous case.
I would like to know more about the three suspects they are looking at. Guess we'll wait and see.

I think the articles stated she had run away from the group home on 3 occasions. and yes I think the dismemberment was initially a way to make identification difficult and also for easy disposal, shudder.

How far outside of Globe is this location?
It was about 25 miles from Globe and 25 miles from her home on the reservation. Per maps.
