Second degree murder? That seems odd. They haven't released much info, but I'd be interested to see what happened here to lead to 2nd degree charges. Regardless, a horrific tragedy.

I can follow this case - but I can not find a link to the Navajo County court site. If you have that - I will know when his hearings come up. I see the article you posted said his next hearing is on March 6. So will put him there. TIA if you (or anyone else reading here) can provide the court link. And hopefully I can access it.

Thursday, March 6th:
*Pretrial Conference & Release Hearing (@ am AZT) – AZ - *Girl, 1 years old, died from a fatal shot from her father with an AR-15 rifle on Feb. 3, 2025, Slow Low. *Adam Joseph Montoya (27) arrested (2/3/25), charged & indicted (2/11/25) on 2nd degree murder & child abuse. $1M bond. Navajo County.
The fatal shooting took place in front of her mother on 2/3/25. Further details on the shooting & a possible motive have not been publicly shared by authorities. Montoya is being eld on a $1 million bond in the Navajo County Jail. It’s unclear if he has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on his behalf. Montoya's next court appearance is scheduled for a pretrial conference & release hearing on 3/6/25.
