Most of you will probably think that I am a terrible mother but I am only telling this for informational purposes. When my middle daughter was about a year old and she was sick the doctor told me to give her benedryl, well my daughter didn't like to take medicine so what I would have to do is lay her in the floor and with a medicine dropper I would have to give her just a few drops at a time. Well I had sat the benedryl down with the lid off as I was trying to give it to my daughter when my 3 year old daughter came up behind me and drank the benedryl straight from the bottle, I flipped out I slapped the bottle out of her hand and called 911. The paramedics rushed her to the hospital and by time we got there she was asleep. The doctor came in there and told me that my daughter would be fine that benedryl is the safest thing to over dose on, that she would be groggy for the rest of the day but she would be fine. I know that Gabriel is younger than my daughter was at the time, but, I am just quoting what the doctor said about it being the "safest" thing to OD on. I know that no medicine is good to OD on but to know that is one of the safest to OD on may make some feel a little better.[/QUOTE]
I'd say the fact that you very carefully gave your one year old medicine from a dropper cause it was the only way to get it down shows that you were a caring and loving mother. Also that you immediately called 911 and went to the hospital.
On the benadryl being safe, this would make me feel better were it not for the cases we've seen in the news in recent years of babies/toddlers dying of benadryl given to them by babysitters and daycare workers.
