I do think there may be a chance she has recently come in contact with someone from her biological family, and they live in San Antonio.

Maybe I'm just hoping that she left Gabriel with them.

BBM. Six Flags in the winter ? Maybe it's not as cold in San Antonio, but I just don't think of going to amusement parks in the winter. I wonder how accurate that sighting was and if they have video confirmation yet.
The article I read said near Six Flags, not at.

Amusements parks aren't cheap to get into anymore.

Hang in there little Gabriel. We're praying for you, that you are warm and safe, well fed and soon to be returned to your father. May you never again feel the confusion and fear of somebody you love so unconditionally, abandoning you.

IIRC didn't the father say that he was only told about the adoption after Gabriel went missing? Wasn't it the "crazy" couple that told him to sign the papers and he would see his son again? Was the topic of adoption every discussed prior to Gabriel's disappearance?

Sorry if this was already answered. I'm trying to catch up again.
I'm still a little confused on this as well. I CAN say that I watched a video of on interview with Logan and he said that right after Gabe was born, they had talked about giving him up for adoption if they couldn't give him a good life. But he made it sound like it was just a "What if" kind of discussion. Then he said nothing else was ever said about adoption until after he split with EJ on Dec. 8th. But I'm not clear on whether Logan was approached about the adoption before or after Gabe disappeared.

The car was found at Motel 6, and Elizabeth was found at the youth hostel.

Do we know how she got to the youth hostel?
How did she know about the youth hostel?
Why leave the car at Motel 6? (This also reminds me of Casey- abandoning the car).
She got to the hostel by hopping Greyhound, right across the street from the Motel 6. No idea how she knew or if she knew about the youth hostel. I think she left the car there to get on the bus...overly simplistic, maybe.
There were no signs of violence in the vehicle. FWIW.

One thing that I don't think has been discussed--if mom let dad raise Gabriel, not only would she have the stigma of not raising her own child, she'd have to pay child support. If she managed to give him up for adoption, legally or not, no child support.

I'm holding out hope that he's alive. I once dealt with a similar case--mom crossed state lines, lied to that state court, and managed to terminate rights to the child and get the child adopted. Dad (my firm's client) found out, and managed to overturn the adoption and get his child back. Years later mom finally voluntarily terminated her rights, and dad and child are doing very, very well.

If Gabriel is with another couple, I do feel for them. In the case I dealt with, the adoptive "parents" thought they were legally adopting a child, and then had to give him up. I imagine it was quite difficult for them (although they did do some pretty underhanded things, like trying to get dad fired, etc. so that they could 'win' in court).

"McQueary said Johnson had been pushing him to sign adoption papers granting Smith custody of Gabriel, and that after the baby disappeared, Smith approached him with similar requests."

"When Gabriel disappeared, they said basically, 'if you really care about your son and you want him back, and you want Elizabeth to bring him back, that you'll sign the paperwork and then she'll bring him back to us, and you'll know he's safe,'" said McQueary. "I said, 'no, I'm not signing any paperwork.'"

You know, if she did this to avoid child support, I hope Logan sues her for wrongful death. Takes every asset she will ever own. If she's not in a cell, she can live in a cardboard box.

Her admission of murder would be allowed in civil court, I think. Don't hold me to that.
I'm a little scattered, due to the shooting in St. Louis.

Anyone know how we would go about checking the Courts in San Antonio to see if any adoption petitions have been filed between Dec 27th and Jan. 5th?
It would have to be filed in a court for it to be a legal adoption, right?
I know it's illegal because Logan didn't sign but if the couple and attorney thought it was legal they would have to file the petition right?

that would not be public knowledge as an adoption is filed through juvenile courts which is not public record.

The only thing I found out is that you have to pay to see anything and I am not sure if I was looking at the right info.

But LE in Bexar County would have probably checked it first thing, right?

you can bet they checked that out first or so I would think.

I think this baby is with her bio family somewhere. I just can't see how anyone else would not have came forward yet. It just doesn't seem right. If they were legit adoptive parents, surely they have heard about this story, it's everywhere. I think she's pawned this baby off to bio family or she's done the deed and I truly hope that's not the case.

LE isn't involved in most adoptions. However, a private adoption through an attorney charging a large fee, likely would be rushed through most of the customary checks...for the right price.

ETA: Oh, I caught it, you meant checked on the records, after he was reported...duh.

But if the couple and their attorney had been in contact with EJ and set up the meeting in SA assuming the adoption was on the up and up and then saw the story on the news maybe there really is a question on whether or not the adoption is legal since at the time the baby was placed with the couple or the petition filed, EJ still had custody, Logan had not yet been awarded full custody. Could that be the hold up with the adoptive couple?
Maybe their attorney has been in contact with LE and they are verifying everything before they turn the baby over.

If this is what happened and a young couple really thought they were doing a legal adoption and now they have to give the baby back then my heart hurts for them but Gabriel needs to be home with his Daddy.

I wonder if LE is getting info from phone records?? And, why no reward??

If that truly happens then it's a really slimy attorney and judge! I have never seen an adoption finalized WITHOUT proper homestudies, background checks, etc and I have worked in Family Law for 15 years. (and an adoptive parent of 2)
