Me, my husband and our 3 year old daughter have been looking for a military wife in California who would like to become a surrogate for us, so we can have a baby.

[from the experience project]

I wonder why would she specify 'military wife' and 'california' when she lived/lives in Arizona?

Mayble she's fulfilling others requests? She's sounding more and more like a baby broker. For all the adds she's placed and shopping she's done, where are all the kids?

Can someone please tell me if this is our little guy?
I'm really tired, and lose all ability to analyze facial features, especially in small pictures, when I'm about to crash.

I'm almost positive I saw this SAME pix of him just last night..I'm fairly new to this case so in the process of catching up I looked at every link posted on this thread..I'd try to go back & find it but I can't right now :(

IOW! Do NOT rule it out yet (nmk) k?

ETA..It may have been on NG..I hope not cos then I won't be able to find it.

Interesting... I didn't think about her having a kid who is now only 16, but I guess that makes sense

Odd, that when missing Cody would have been only 11-12?

Was he missing for 2 years or is that just how long it took to post the info? :waitasec:

TPS posted for all of the kids and the ex-husband on that site. They were all living in Louisiana at the time of Katrina and family members were encouraged to go to the missing website and post their information to help authorities.

She probably either couldn't get a hold of them or was just doing what she considered her "duty" in reporting them on the site.

I know I am a little late in the game on this but for whatever its worth...

My take on the California/military wife being a surrogate for them is this, this is what wiki has to say about surrogacy laws in CA

"California is generally accepting of surrogacy agreements, particularly when the couple seeking surrogacy has contributed some of the genetic material. While the state has no statute directly addressing surrogacy, state courts have used the Uniform Parentage Act to interpret several cases concerning surrogacy agreements. In fact, one of the most influential cases regarding surrogacy rights (Johnson v. Calvert) was decided in in California. In 1993's Johnson v. Calvert, the California Supreme Court held that the intended parents in a gestational-surrogacy agreement (an agreement in which the carrying mother had no genetic relationship to the baby) should be recognized as the natural and legal parents. Since the intended mother donated the egg but the surrogate mother gave birth, the court decided that the person who intended to procreate should be considered the natural mother. A 1998 case, Buzzanca v. Buzzanca, addressed the issue of traditional surrogacy agreements in which the surrogate mother has been artificially inseminated. In this case, a surrogate mother was impregnated using her egg and anonymous sperm. In other words, neither of the intended parents had a genetic link to the child. The court found that when a married couple uses non-genetically related embryo and sperm implanted into a surrogate intended to procreate a child, they are the lawful parents of the child. Another similar 1998 case, In Re Marriage of Moschetta, dealt with the same issue, except that the intended parents had separated. In that case, the court awarded legal parent rights to the intended father and surrogate mother. It is unclear what result would come from a same-sex couple attempting to use surrogacy in California to start a family. California seems to rely heavily on the "intent of the parties," but the Buzzanca case only speaks to married couples and Moschetta seems to emphasize the importance of a committed relationship, if not a marriage, between the intended parents. A bill, AB25, signed in 2001 by Democratic Gov. Gray Davis extending domestic partner rights may strengthen same-sex couples' rights in the surrogacy context. California Family Code § 7540 (2001); Johnson v. Calvert, 5 Cal. 4th 84 (Cal. 1993); Buzzanca v. Buzzanca, 61 Cal. App. 4th 1410 (Cal. Ct. App. 4th 1998); In Re Marriage of Moschetta, 25 Cal. App. 4th 1218 (Cal. Ct. App. 4th 1994)."

Kinda long sorry. And the part about being a military wife, I don't know ONE military wife who does not have a Power of Attorney for their husband. EXP wifes whos husband has been overseas. I know we were MADE to get one (actually other than the general I had three or four for different stuff) before our husbands left for Iraq. Which would make doing things while the husband is away A LOT easier. But then again since this is such a life changing even I don't know that a poa would work on his behalf if they needed a signature for whatever reason.

By the way, AZ laws are very MUDDY to say the least you can read more about each state and their surrogacy laws by going to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surrogacy and scrolling down to the state you are looking for!

This all makes perfect sense. TPS really did her surrogate homework. Thanks for the post.

If anyone remebers reading her cafemom bio she said in there that when she signed custody of the kids over to their father she lost touch with them and she just "recenly" caught back up with them and has almost daily contact with them through myspace. I wonder if this is the avenue that she used to find her "missing" children?

I'm really confused about how long TS has know her. One interview she says she met them 7 months ago (Gabriel would have been one month old) in an airport and the next she's saying that she only knew the mom for 3 or 4 weeks. I know this has been mentioned here before but does anyone have any explanation on this?

Quite frankly I doubt that either the ex or the kids have even moved from the family home. It was her that took off to Nashville most likely. Her ex was born in New Orleans and that's pretty much where they are now. They are all still there except for TPS so how hard could they have been to find?

LOL No this was said in the SAME interview. lol

I think what she is TRYING to get us to believe is that she met Elizabeth in an airport walked over to her and asked "what do you want to do with your baby" (Per NG interview LAST NIGHT) and that is where it all started because she (EJ) had not yet made up her mind if she wanted to give the child up or not. Then when whatever happened on or about the 8th of December happened she decided then and there that she was going to give Gabe to the Smith's for adoption. But that they had NO contact between the airport meeting seven months ago and the "get together" three or four weeks ago.

I am not defending, not one bit. But if her mike was going off in her ear to shut him up, one of the producers not liking where he was going...then it explains it.
I realized they are very unfamiliar with the media spotlight when Jack kept talking to his earmike out loud.
Just a possible explanation for the leg slapping. I saw it, I thought it was suspicious, but just to cover the different bases.
I thought it was because he was just rambling and they were trying to get him to cut it short due to time on the air. He was answering a question but really not going anywhere with it just taking more time to say what he wanted to say, kinda like I'm doing right now. LOL

I think that TPS is trying to say that she met EJ in an airport last July but that she did not have any further contact with her until EJ got in touch with TPS in late November to adopt her baby. Yeah right like , she just remembered TPS from that airport meeting and called her up and took the baby over there, dropped him off and signed some POA guardianship papers.

IMO TPS has been "working" this adoption since last July and the bio dad had no idea what was going on. That's why she's trying to minimize the contact that she and EJ had from July to late November. But cell records and computer checks will fix that I'm sure.

It's almost 2 here in AZ and I'm about to hit the hay soon. But before I do....

The Smith's demeanor in all their interviews really bother me. I mean, they held this precious baby boy, hugged him, watched him laugh, watched him cry, and yet they seem less bothered by his disappearance than most of the posters here at WS. Heck, I didn't know the baby at all and I'm very upset and bothered by how his mother treated him. Why don't they show any sort of concern in any of their public appearances?

Last night (after being called POIs) she was smiling/laughing thru the entire on-camera interview with a local station & even joked about getting a DOG instead of trying to adopt a BABY..Extremely ODD!

oooh yeah, the insurance thing makes sense since on other sites, she did ask others if they had ins.

now the California thing ... well, we've recently learned that she may have connections there - hmm, or maybe it's cheaper there to give birth or something? I have no idea about the pricing ... just a thought

A vacation?? combine with Disneyland?

maybe she wants to expand her colon empire to California..seems like something that would be popular there??

I do think the Military wife (insurance and POA) and California's liberal surrogate rulings would make it an ideal spot for the opportunistic would be baby broker Tammi

EJ's cell phone pinged in Victoria, Texas right?

well, what if she did kill her child and drove to Victoria to try and find a place to dump/bury the body?

I'm interested to see how big the diper bag and the backpack she had with her is.
