The decedent is believed to be a black male but may be of a mixed race as well.

Dental x-rays are available. DNA will be submitted to CODIS.

New to these forums. You would think if there was a type on injury from a gunshot there would be a police report or medical record somewhere, no?

Probably a medical report, but it could be anywhere in the US and any time in the 20 years before he was found. (Or in another country for that matter.) Since it could have been an accident, there wouldn't necessarily be a police report, and again it could be anywhere.

So I looked up black men who went missing in Arizona in the right time frame. I found three possibilities.

Darrin Hale The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs). The demographics fit and he went missing from Gilbert, only an hour away from Gila Bend. He has burn scars and a tattoo that don't match, but it's not clear from the condition of the remains whether they would have been visible. No mention of knee injury.

James Malcom Diamond The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
Again, scars don't line up, but they might not have been visible, and no mention of knee injury.

Marco King: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
He was working on a ranch west of Tucson when he disappeared. Details sketchy.

I don't think any of them look very promising.

Could be a Vietnam vet.

I used to go on a website that was dedicated to missing American veterans. Not those MIA but those that went missing after returning home. I can't seem to find it now. Do you know if it's still active?

Thanks for the link. It's not the one I had been on. It had hundreds of missing vets going all the way back to the 70s. I thought it was a government site but I can only find references to MIAs mostly from the Vietnam war.

I remember the site you're talking about but I haven't been on it for at least a couple of years. I'll have to look to see if I have it in my old files.

It was very useful because it would list tattoos, last location, etc. I don't know if it was taken down because while I was searching for it just yesterday, I came upon this:

I thought perhaps the missing was included somewhere on the Dept of Veteran Affairs website but I don't see anything.
