Eighty five years old and they haven't found him yet - how far could he have gone?!!?

Bob disappeared when he was eighty one and I thought that was bad enough. Is it physically possible for this man to have walked into an area where he would be hard to find, or do LE suspect foul play? Or have they just put his case to the back of their minds.....?

On Bob Harrod's thread (missing eighty-one year-old) we are having a big push to involve geocachers, hunters and hikers in the search for him; to BOLO (be on the lookout) for him.

I think that might work for Hugh too, especially as geocachers in Arizona have already been very successful in bringing home a friend.

The FB has been deserted. I will do some research later today.

Today, is my "adopted" Dad's 80th birthday, so am preparing a little something for him.

When I get back from shopping, Hugh will be at the top of my "to do" list, and hopefully will be able to update, or find the family to link us all up!

I'm not on FB, but if anyone does find an up to date page for Hugh, I really think it would benefit his family's search if they can link up with Hellen Cook's family's campaign.

https://www.facebook.com/FindHellenCook

Hellen had Alzheimers and was tragically found too late, but her family are determined to change things and are pulling in help from everywhere. They are also highlighting other missing seniors with Alzheimer's, and I am sure it could only benefit Hugh's case to appear on their site. This poor man really needs to come home, but I think his family will need a lot of professional help if he is ever to be found in that terrain they've got there.

"Remarkably vital man for his age", his son says. And LE says it is rare not to find any trace of a person. I was under the impression Hugh had Alzheimer's or dementia, but now I'm not sure.

Never give up. This missing man's remains were recovered in Mesa(county, not city) after 26 years
http://denver.cbslocal.com/2013/05/...sa-county-belong-to-man-missing-for-26-years/

Lots of story links here. And there is a statement from Police Spokesman Steve Berry that Hugh had dementia and a heart condition.

It's sad, but I am not finding anything beyond mid 2012 for Hugh. At least online, it appears people have given up hope of finding him. That is a shame. It appears his wife is quite senior now and it would be a very good thing if he could be brought home for her - they were married for 60 years.

In MO, calls are being made to amend and standardize missing persons' procedures nationally, in the wake of Alzheimer's sufferer Hellen Cook being found deceased. It is worth keeping an eye on what is happening down there - this family are making waves and are very, very determined. They are working alongside the Alzheimers Association.

Meanwhile, who is looking for Hugh? He is out there somewhere, and he could only have gone where a human being can go, so a human being can bring him home again.

Remains of missing Alberta man found nearly a decade after his disappearance in Arizona | CBC News
The remains of an Alberta man who went for a walk in Arizona on Christmas Eve in 2010 and never returned have been found.
Mesa police said a hiker found Turner's remains on Jan. 5 and some personal effects that allowed the medical examiner to positively ID him a few days later.

His remains were found in a remote area, kilometres north of his home near Redmont and Sugarloaf in East Mesa, across a canal, and up steep terrain, McCaffrey's post read.
