It appears that the family also is keeping stuff "close to their home vest" as well as LE keeping stuff "close to LE's vest".

  • #482
Wouldn't most houses have a "foreign scent" if all it takes is someone other than the basic occupants? That seems a waste of time to me...JMO

Probably checked the window and any other point of possible entry or exit. Just a guess.

:seeya: Thank You for the link and update ...

snipped from above link :

Sgt. Maria Hawke said at a press conference today, "It is accurate that the parents have done polygraph tests," but those results will not be shared.

Now, this is JMO and MOO ... but IF they "passed" the poly's, why can't LE just say so ?

By not doing so, leads to speculation ... and further speculation ...

So ... when LE does NOT reveal any "passed" results ...

JMO and MOO, there is a "reason" for it because I do not see how saying that they passed would in any way compromise the investigation ...

:moo:

I still have soooo much to learn regarding criminal justice.
And this question you posed regarding the reasons why results of the polygraphs are not reported by LE intrigues me in this, and other, cases.

So, I am throwing out a theory.... maybe, if the parents did pass, LE would not like the actual perp to discover this so he/she may think LE still suspects the parents, and the perp may not feel the heat is only on him/her?

The perp may act more "spontaneously" if there is no perception of LE narrowing in on him/her?

Please help me with your theories and experience, fellow sleuthers!

TIA

The neighbor was told by LE that the man that knocked on her door was the Uncle.

  • #485
Yup, the tone of his voice did not match what he was saying, imo.

If he REALLY didn't know that an uncle knocked on the neighbor's door, then I might expect he would be curious --but he seemed kind of annoyed instead.

Yes...he knows who it was. Another thing LE probably does not want them to talk about.

I agree, but I wouldn't really expect a certain uncle of mine to say "uncle" when we were really raised as cousins. Without the family dynamics explained it is hard to tell.

I agree. From what I can piece together, this 'cousin' was not raised with the Celis family.

If the FB comments are correct, his mom married into the family. So he would be more like a recent step-cousin. And I think he called himself an uncle because he was so much older than a typical cousin might be.

I have an aunt who is 3 years older than me. So we were actually raised like cousins. I never called her my 'auntie.' Not until we were older and I teased her that way. lol

Yet LE has been practically begging them to talk...

Poor Marc, he's always cut off by a commercial.

I think Jane should have asked LR what he wanted to speak about before they went on air. Maybe he would have said more if her questions were more open-ended and less accusatory.

What did Marc Klaas say? I missed it.

  • #490
I think the uncle did great. Of course he can't answer questions that involve the investigation. My heart really went out to him. He choked up when Jane asked him about Isa's brothers and how they're coping.

He looked so sad. :(

What did Marc Klaas say? I missed it.

One of the talking heads said he doesn't know what he would do if he were the Celis. Marc said he's been there and he did it differently than the Celis' are doing, meaning he had his face in the news all the time. But he didn't hold it against them for doing it their way. Then, snap, a commerical. Okay, now he's back.

I suppose if that scent showed up in Isa's bedroom where no one but family had been recently, then it would be significant.

Why does the father shut his eyes when he talks.. IIRC Susan Smith did the same..JMHO

That really bugs me, too, but probably not indicative of anything.

I have read that when people talk with their hand near their mouths, they are being deceptive. But I often do that, especially when I am relating something I have to think about to recall. Like tapping my lip with my fingertips. And I ain't lyin''! Lol

But still, the closed eyes thing is really distracting.

Moo of course but the way I viewed this specific response to Anne's question was that Becky had just finished answering the question of they know that it is necessary that they be under that scrutiny and that yes it was difficult but nothing they couldn't handle and especially if it In any way brought them closer to bringing Isa home.. IMO essentially Becky has answered the question thoroughly about it being difficult but necessary and that "THEY" could handle it.. She was speaking for them both.. So I believe when the exact same question was posed to Sergio that what was he to do but repeat again what Becky had already very successfully stated as to what and why they felt about the situation?? IMO he instead of just repeating the same sentiment again he expressed that it was so big and overwhelming as a whole(the entire situation) from beginning to where they are presently and that they had a difficult time even wrapping their heads around ALL OF IT(from her being taken.. To the scrutiny..to the 13 long days/nights with no answers.. To where they are now).. ALL OF IT..

i can see the above as being totally possible.

my thought while watching was: ''good grief....are you ever going to get to the point and ask the darn question, ann curry?'' point being, sometimes when an interview appears awkward, it is not due to the interviewee, but the interviewer. i was actually stunned to learn that curry would get the first interview with this family.

The family is sitting somewhere at 4:00 AM Arizona time, probably never went to bed so the can do the Today Show interview. Then they have the bright lights from the cameras & area hitting them in their faces as they do the Today Show interview.

TxLady2,
Yes, I do understand about police interrogation techniques ( not from TV LOL ).

I am loathe to admit it,but I just do not feel that the Celis' are being completely forthright. There is just something that doesn't seem to sit right. And I also think it may well have nothing to do with Isabel. Whatever this "something" is,it kind of clouds the picture for me. I have not made any mention of this before now... MOO The LEO's I've known told me that there is the science of police work, evidence etc.And there is also the other part of police work, which often relies heavily on intuition... Just some thoughts and MOO

BBM :)

I am with you there, but I don't think dad has anything to do with it. I think dad has suspicions (that he may be denying if it is a friend or family) and has spoken to polie and his wife about but not speaking publicly (police may have asked him not to mention anything) to keep the suspect close and not give him reason to run. Moo

If the police state that the parents have taken polygraphs, but they aren't clearing them, that says something...

JVM: Surveillance camera pointing to the sky. Camera is in the alley behind the Celis house.

Camera faces the alley/house.

Did someone move the camera?

  • #499
Ohhhhhhhhhhh, the Celis family has a surveillance camera on their house on the alley-side, but the camera is pointing up to the sky (right now).

So... which is it?

Two different people, two different statements/opinions. Not uncommon. I assume this former FBI agent is not involved in the investigation.

If you read the article, this is how it appears. One right after the other. It seems odd that the author of the article did not comment on the difference of opinion, saying something like "This guy here says such and such, but this other guy over here thinks that first guy's idea couldn't be further from the truth". Just thought it was funny/strange.
