Possible anger to the point of rage on the part of one of the parents because of the stressors. If this were the case, I would think they might need medical attention.

I do think the law may be different in each state. Here, CPS will get involved with a parent if a child has a mental illness and is not getting the child treatment. The juvenile court here also has a program for kids in trouble with drugs or other things-the family is assessed by the courts social workers and a decision is made from there, whether to involve CPS or DMH. A parent here will not be charged with neglect unless they know their child is using and does not get them help, or of course if the parent is doing drugs with their kids or supplying the drugs. Which happens more than you want to know.

As far as the 'no contact order'-if there is indeed one in place-
Would that be a decision that a judge would make? Or can CPS make that call?

And what to they mean by "joint investigation"? Is there another legal matter going on, or are they talking about Isabel's case?

OT: watching Silence of the Lambs now, hope there are some good movies on tonight!

Perhaps a sober alcoholic for a long time. Stress like this can cause a relapse. Pure speculation, but it fits a certain pattern.

One parent also has a parent that appears to have had some DUI issues in the past as well...perhaps something that has been prominent in the family and passed down?

Dui, vapors (smoking weed), open container, kids in car, nurse with access to pills etc. Could Becky be fighting addiction? I dont know but it is as good a guess as those who think Sergio is somehow involved with the Mexican drug cartels and in deep enough debt to them that they would take his kid...

That is a very real possibility. The only thing that dissuades me from that scenario is the way her hospital has jumped so fully onboard. But you might be on target.

Actually I am very surprised LE has released this info. CPS allegations are confidential. The cases are confidential. Here in WV only the people accused are allowed to tell what they are charged with and what rules are in the safety plan, geez even the fact there is a safety plan. CONFIDENTIAL. Blows me away....

But think about it-Imagine how it would look if the hospital did NOT jump on board? I mean for the hospital?

I wonder where the information that LE obtained, and gave to CPS came from ?

I thought : a teacher ( mandated reporter ). The parent who has the kids. Or, someone posted upthread about LE possibly bugging the hotel room ? I kind of shook my head, but, maybe there was something to it ? MOO

Yes I have thought about that too her co coworkers who are medical professionals and work with kids all support her, surely they would see if she had an addiction problem or was a bad parent, on the other hand I know some addicts who function VERY VERY well and hide it even better, who knows. I HATE to suggest this about Becky, trust me I do.

Sorry if this has already been asked but do we know if the one parent and the kids are staying at their own home now? Or did they leave the house and only the parent w/ the no contact order is staying at their home?

The kids are with one parent and a relative, don't know where.

Yes, I have known people who were very good at hiding drug addictions. Both were doctors actually. So it can be done. And if anyone was going to lapse and go back to taking drugs, a tragedy like this would be the perfect trigger.

Sergio is coaching baseball, singing in the opera, working a full time job, seems like a pretty good guy to me folks, like I said though I am in a constant state of being let down by humans but for some strange reason I continue to believe in the good of humanity, maybe one day I will learn my lesson and wash my hands of them all and just lock myself in my house with my kitty cat.

However, in keeping with our commitment to keep members of the media and our community informed of changes or developments in this investigation, we felt it important to advise you of the increased involvement of CPS.

I too find the release interesting. But maybe TPD felt the media would find out and they would have to address the issue at some point anyway. On the other hand I wonder if this is meant to put pressure on someone?
