I guess they got their stories coordinated, but when they were separated and asked to do the "walk through" I am guessing things didn't add up. The kids probably said things that made LE go "huh?"

Happy birthday, Pax.

I missed all of this, my children have had a busy weekend so far.

Just sharing my opinion on the hunch that the restricted parent is Sergio ..

I am confused about this new development because it seems to me that if RC had suspicion of SC, she would have been more publicly distant, I don't understand the need for faking the happy family. It seems a normal woman or mom that was innocent and suspected her husband would have been honest and direct. IMO She would have shared her suspicion with LE, and would not have made public appearances supporting him and holding his hand.

That makes me think she did not have any suspicion, and I can't fathom being married to, living with, and raising kids with someone for that long and being blind to a dark side. I don't know if that means that I think she knew something, or if she IS the "bad guy".

Before I saw the latest news, I wanted to come comment regarding how several people had said this case reminds them of Zahra, and I totally disagree. Right away Zahras dad and SM were looked at, the SM was publicly strange, neighbors were talking about having seen abuse...I really thought the Celis family looked like a great, innocent family. Sergio seemed dramatic and effeminate to me, but I chalked it up to him being an artsy educated Latino. Becky seemed pretty normal. They seemed like a, sorry, " boring couple" with good kids. I am very curious to learn how this turns out.

I'm out of town for the weekend and just checked in for news. What is going on?!! One of the parents is restricted from seeing the boys? Any idea which one and why?

If someone could please give me a quick recap, I'd really appreciate it. TIA

The ONLY time I have ever seen CPS do this,it is because one parent is deemed to be unsafe for the child/children to be around. Usual stuff is drugs,alcohol,violence...It is a VERY serious thing...MOO

If either of the parents had a problem with substance abuse or dependence, even if that person has been clean for quite sometime, relapse an reinstatement is possible. I'm not even going so far as to speculate that this has anything to do with today's news. It was just a thought I had and yeah I do study stress and drug cue reactivity, so I thought I'd put it out there as a non-malicious explanation.

That is all we know...we don't know which parent, or why...just that the parents are living apart, the children with one parent, the other allowed "no contact" and that CPS involvement has been "increased."

Sergio is coaching baseball, singing in the opera, working a full time job, seems like a pretty good guy to me folks, like I said though I am in a constant state of being let down by humans but for some strange reason I continue to believe in the good of humanity, maybe one day I will learn my lesson and wash my hands of them all and just lock myself in my house with my kitty cat.

That sounds perfectly lovely to me.

I am confused too, considering Josh Powell had visitation rights with his boys! So I am trying to find out what a parent has to do before they can have No Contact!

No contact orders are usually reserved for cases of severe and ongoing child abuse.Especially sexual abuse. MOO No contact orders are used when the child/children are deemed to be endangered if they are around a parent. It is a safety issue with regard to kids.

Almost always domestic violence perps can get supervised ( and sometimes unsupervised ) visitation with their kids. MOO

Convicted murderers get supervised visits with their children all the time...MOO No contact is a big deal...MOO

It will be very interesting to see if the "no contact " parent decides to hire a lawyer to fight this...MOO

IMO it is probably a tactic by LE to get someone to spill what they know...MOO

Thanks clu! Just thinking, Lisa Irwin's mom admitted to being too drunk to care for Lisa, and they didn't take her other kids away. Didn't the Celis boys just return to school? Maybe they were finally able to tell a trusted person their concerns. If one of the parent's isn't coping well, then check into a hospital like Ed Smart did when he broke down.

Who's mom lives down the street? Didn't Sergio say his family lived out of town? News said the parent is staying with family.

MOO

Isn't Sergio a Little League coach? Maybe, if Sergio is the no-contact parent, the information leading to CPS' intervention came from the kids he coaches, not from his sons.

My mind is still open to the possibility that Becky is the no-contact parent, though.

Sergio's. Becky's family is the one living out of town.

Taking everything into account that has happened since day one (dog hit, landfill search, 911 calls, neighbor's comments, etc etc) and everything LE has said and done, including their continued scrutiny of the family, I think that dad is culpable for something happening to Isabelle; and I think one son knows what that might be (the one they brought back to the scene for the re-enactment).

If the son knows, he may now fear for his own life if he reveals the truth to LE. And thus, CPS separated him from that threat.

If LE suspected that the mom was a similar threat, then the no contact order would apply to both and they would have been placed with a relative.

I think this young son might be the "break" that LE is looking for, and they are trying to get him to open up and talk. But in order to do that, he has to feel safe.

Ima flip this couch pillow over to the non-drool side and try again.

Are we up and running yet?

Why is her maiden name Snyder? In the interviews I saw her father and brother had Rodriguez as surname. I'm a bit confused:/

Well, that's very interesting. Can it mean she was married prior to Sergio? Court records has her as Rebecca Snyder when she applied for a marriage license.

It's weird to me, too, but I think they married quite young so it's unlikely.
