I'm not picking on you but what does using a motel for an interview say about their character?

To me, it seems like they didn't want an interview in their house, which to me is understandable. That leaves having it at a family member's home which I wouldn't want either, or outside for the public to see which I'm sure the NBC producer didn't want to happen.

NBC probably said to them, "Hey, we'll pay for a motel to do the interview". I see nothing sinister in that. That's just my opinion, of course.

This may be just me but, I really don't consider the Celis house to be anywhere near huge or extremely expensive. Of course, that is all relative.

Of course it's relative. However, 3802 sq. ft. is considered pretty large by most folks. $435,000 is considered expensive around Tucson, especially for a nurse and surg assist. Also, if you look at the rest of the houses on E. 12th (with the exception of the one directly across the street), it absolutely stands out as a newer (by decades) and much larger house.

Meh, it's more of a "define 'compensation'" a la Clinton argument.

I think it was deceptive, personally, and I do consider it compensation, but some may argue that since nobody wrote the Celises a check, it doesn't count. JMO

It was stated to be a hotel, not a motel. That isn't just semantic hairsplitting; there is a world of difference between the two.

IMO the Celises should have been forthcoming and just revealed it. "NBC paid for our hotel room to use as a venue for the interview" would have sufficed. Instead, they denied receiving compensation which isn't exactly true. JMO.

I think some of us believe that hotel room was not just for the interview, but they were temporary staying there, which is fine. However the Celis went into detail about how they didnt recieve compensation for the nbc interview and how they have never needed financial help. However, IMO, they did recieve compensation and therefore they lied. And unfortunately when you lie about one thing its hard to believe you about anything else.

Sorry, I wasn't "semantic hairsplitting", I just misspoke...

They could have been more forthcoming or, most likely, it could have been the furthest thing from their mind when they were asked that question.

I'm just saying that there have been other instances of parents of missing children taking money in a much more obvious way than what this situation is presenting to us. Like I said, this to me is just not sinister. JMO.

Another officer wrote that he was sent to a motel in the 3300 block of East Benson Highway. Someone called 911 saying he had Isabel and if police did not respond in 10 minutes he would kill her. The officer searched the area and questioned people staying in the motel but nothing suspicious was found.

OMG some people are crazy.

I heard the house cost $500,000 in 2006/7, pretty steep for a nurse and a dental assistant. They had to have a huge downpayment.
