Do we know the temperature Friday night into Saturday morning? This might help whether the AC was on or not.

It was cool here Sunday night as well as tonight and no AC's were on.

A local, sorry can't remember which one, said that while the days have been very hot, the nights have been quite nice. So during the day the AC is most likely on, but we don't know if it was on that night. It's probable the windows were open.
Just a bit of info....not all homes here have AC. I don't know if their particular home has it or not, but some try to save money and have swamp coolers, which require the window to be open, whereas AC requires window to be closed. There are a number of pretty nice homes in various areas here that use this method.

That would be nine hours of sleep. IMO, that's plenty. On off school nights my kids and I would stay up to the wee hours eating candy, drinking soda, watching movies, playing games, all kinds of stuff. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

To each his own, and maybe I'm just old-fashioned. As a mother, grandmother, and former teacher, I believe that a 6-year-old youngster needs more sleep following a full week in school and participating in extra-curricular activities. :moo:

Hi, all...I'm new here, but I'm a 30 year Tucson native, and I've been following this story from the beginning Saturday morning. Heart is breaking for what this family is going through, but I have to say there are some questions about the adults in this family that concern me. I'm trying to get up to speed on protocol for what is ok to post, if anyone can offer guidance (maybe I missed it on the front page rules) on links to local legal public info about family members, I would appreciate it. Thanks for letting me join in :)

The neighbor (CM) on NG said she's lived next door to Mr. Celis' parents for 25 years (down the street from Isa's house) and she had only great things to say about the family. She described them as "the salt of the earth, caring, wonderful."

What are "swamp coolers"? Do they run all night and would they be loud enough to block out noise?

I keep a fan running in my bedroom during the night so I won't be disturbed.

If an air conditioner or something similar was running in the Celis's house during the night, that might allow someone to enter and exit the house without disturbing sleeping occupants.

I've heard about Isa playing at the nearby park, but do we know how she normally gets to school? Does she walk, take the bus, get a ride from her parents or grandma?

She attends a charter school which is about 10-15 minutes from her home, so she would have been driven to school by an adult. (Either parent or carpool.)

If I have the correct address for the home, they DO NOT have swamp coolers. Lots of folks have them in Tucson, myself included...they work in areas of the country with low humidity, it's basically a big drum shaped fan that sucks outside air through big "pads" that get water dripped on them. They work great this time of year...but looking at the google pic of the house that I believe is theirs...they have only a/c. Windows could still be open this time of year at night to save money...trust me, we do that at our house.

Thanks. So another child's parent could potentially have driven her to school either occasionally or regularly.

We have them in NM too and yes, they are noisy.

DOB: Aug 27, 2005 from her missing poster.

Thanks, I thought she was a bit older than that due to her being in the first grade. Unless the cut off date for starting school is different in AZ than it is here. My daughter was born 11/25/04 and is in the first grade. The cut off here is you have to be 5 by June 1 to start kg the same year.

I am still not clear on if she went to bed at 11pm or if that is when the parents went to bed and checked on her. Not too late for a non-school night imo but all kids are different. My 7yo does ok with 9 hrs. sleep where as when my older daughter was that age she needed more.

Looks like Arizona's cut off date is September 1st.
