You're telling me there were 20 people at this campsite and not one of them decided to call for help until he'd been missing for over 4 hours? Unbelievable!

What are "long handled underwear"?

What are the temps like in that area? Would long underwear be necessary in the daytime?

Otherwise known as Longjohns:

Maybe when they do find this kid, the law enforcement in Idaho can apply it to the Deorr Kuntz case and see if something similar might have happened up there.

The cases almost seem to mirror one another.

I don't have children so I was wondering....is 35 lbs small for a 5 year old boy? Seems small to me.

i googled "average weight for a 5 year old boy" and it said 40. So he is about the right weight.

Oh no, another missing child at a campsite :(

I hope they find Jerold quickly - the approaching weather does not look conducive to searching :please:

Please let Jerold be found safe and sound. I don't think my heart can take another child missing especially from a campground. Prayers sent for Jerold and all searchers.

They said he was last seen 'chasing grasshoppers.' So that sounds like he was on his hands and knees in the grassy area? I wonder how he can go missing when he is chasing hopping insects? He wouldn't be covering a lot of ground doing that, IMO.

Some grasshoppers out here fly -- larger ones especially. They don't fly long distances, you can generally see where they drop back down, but they can lead you a merry chase if you are after a particular one.

OK, thanks. It still seems odd to me that he could get so totally lost from a large group of 20 people. How long was he out of sight?

Most 5 yr olds can listen for voices and use logic and reason and it seems strange that he got so lost and so far away so quickly. It seems like someone or something must have taken him away?

Just hope he didn't chase one over a cliff or something. :(

Does anyone here think waiting 4 hours to call LE is wrong.
4 hours?

I'm not in a position to judge so "wrong" isn't a word I should use, but I find it.... unusual. I can imagine 4 hours would feel approximately equivalent to a full day if a kid was missing. Personally I'd rather call it in early, search myself at the same time and risk having to try and laugh it off with the authorities when the child was just hiding somewhere nearby.
