Hmmm it says in that article that they think she was placed in the trash (:anguish:) in Tempe.

snipped from the article:
Based on the information and further investigation, police now believe Jhessye’s body was placed in a trash receptacle in Tempe, prior to her reported disappearance on Oct. 11.

Glendale is approx. 30 minutes to Tempe. If Jerice doesn't have a car, how the hell did she get there???? Did someone drive her there, with a body in the car, or did she take a bus or some other form of public transportation?

BBM. I live in Tempe, and imo, 30 minutes to get from Tempe to Glendale is very optimistic. I haven't driven to Glendale in a few years, but driving on the surface streets took me at least an hour, iirc.

I just checked Valley Metro's website, and it looks like it would take about two hours by bus. More specifically, if she rode the bus closest to her apartment, the 70, it would be an hour and 20 minutes before she even got to a place where she could transfer to a Tempe bus.

http://routes.valleymetro.org/timetables/transit_route/706?type=2

I am totally gobsmacked that she traveled so far, comparatively speaking and am shocked that she would choose Tempe when there are/were places much closer to her apartment.

Is there somebody she knows in Tempe?

Is there somebody she knows in Tempe?

I would think she does know someone in Tempe, but it still puzzles me that they would drive back to Tempe and use a trash can. There are several large urban lakes in the metropolitan area that they could have used. They could have taken the body to South Mountain Park, an undeveloped area that is the largest city park in the country. Or, they could have headed out of town completely, it's about 30 miles from Tempe to some of the bigger lakes in AZ such as Saguaro Lake. It's sad to think that there are TONS of places in Arizona to get rid of a body, especially a small child.

I'm also wondering if Jhessye was still alive when she was brought to Tempe? Was Jhessye part of some "deal" made by Jerice?

Or, could it be that Jhessye's body was brought to Jerice's friend's house so that they could dismember it without Jerice's siblings seeing what was going on?

It's all so baffling. I do hope that LE arrests Jerice and any of her accomplices before Christmas Day. I love the thought of Jerice having one of Sheriff Joe's "special" holiday meals.

Lord..they have to search for her...please let them search....please let them arrest that "thing" and whomever helped, if in fact someone did help.

Respectfully snipped

Then later on it says, "Johnson also said she does not believe her daughter did anything to hurt Jhessye. She said police are wasting a lot of time focusing on Hunter and not looking for the little girl.

"They are going to hit a dead wall. Just spending more time, money, the people's money, on the wrong thing. Keep looking but you need to expand. You're wasting time, valuable time is being wasted because you want to prove yourself right," said Johnson. "

This woman thinks if she blows enough of a smoke screen people won't find the truth. Accuse the police of not searching, accuse them of racism. LE wants to find this little girl and they hope to find her alive. It angers me when people accuse LE of not caring. It's obvious to me they care more about Jhessye than Grandma and Mom!

I wonder if Johnson said hit a "dead wall" or "dead end". That is a strange thing to say, imo. If I were LE I'd start checking inside walls in empty apartments and buildings. That could have been a "slip" of the tongue.

Ok, go ahead and laugh at me.........:floorlaugh:

Thank you, Donjeta. Jhessye is so beautiful it made me cry.

She's just precious and those two vile women who keep spouting off make me sick. I wish they would just ST#U!

The next thing I want to hear about them is that they have been arrested, then found guilty. :praying: :praying:

Well, there are some good parents in the state. ;)

This (and all the recent cases) are completely over the top - all these parents who refuse to cooperate with LE, by coincidence also happen to be the last person to have seen their child and the children have just vanished off the face of the earth. Arrest the FGS!! Truth serum is not cruel or unusual punishment, let's put it to good use or offer the parents a final chance to come clean then use it if they decline. I'm so sick of this!

BTW Shirley/Susie: if you're reading here, get a clue! You and your racist rants, your daughter has hurt her children and you know it! So do we. If you really want to find Jhessye talk to Jerice.

RBBM

It is an affront to every decent, law-abiding African American when someone screams "racism" to get their way, get out of trouble, or to turn attention away from their nefarious deeds. It is also an affront to everyone who ever worked hard and risked their necks in the Civil Rights Movement...African American, Caucasian, Jew, Gentile, etc. I am completely and totally disgusted with these people on so many levels.

I live in Tempe and this is awful. But what if she took a cab to Tempe it would be less discrete... or maybe the grandmother drove her unknowingly? Tempe is a semi large town, I just wonder where she were to dump the body.
Considering it is a college town she may of done it on campus or around campus because the trash gets picked up there every other day.
Hopefully some new news is coming.
May she rest in peace.

He said shortly after the arrest of the girl’s mother, Jerice Hunter, in November for child abuse, investigators received reliable information regarding Jhessye’s disappearance.

Based on the information and further investigation, police now believe Jhessye’s body was placed in a trash receptacle in Tempe, prior to her reported disappearance on Oct. 11.

Coombs said the trash from that location is removed to a transfer station and eventually taken to Butterfield Landfill south of the Valley.

Investigators have been working to determine the viability of a landfill search at the location over the last few weeks, Coombs said.

Please please search. Jhessye deserves to be laid to rest properly, and she deserves justice.

Hunter was released from jail days later, and the charge against her was dropped. Prosecutors said at the time that they wanted further investigation and were worried that Hunter would not be eligible for a potential murder charge if she was convicted of abusing Shockley, a situation known as double jeopardy.

Okay, now that makes sense!

But why? Maybe I'm missing something here, but doesn't double jeopardy pertain to the same crime? Child abuse would be just one part of the charges; murder could come later and is different (or in addition to) the child abuse charge, correct?

I guess it could all tie in together if the child abuse led to her death. But it still seems different to me. :waitasec:

Legal minds, what do you guys think?

ETA: The most I know about double jeopardy is the movie with Ashley Judd... :innocent:

BBM I had been thinking the same thing. If she had Jhessye's body in a suitcase, could she have caught a cab to Tempe and later taken another cab back home? If that was her mode of transportation, I doubt she would've called the cab to her home. Are there any hotels nearby? It wouldn't appear suspicious for someone carrying luggage to hail a taxi in front of a hotel. IIRC, there is a Greyhound station nearby, so it would be reasonable to think that there are hotels nearby where travelers can stay.

I wonder if one of the tips received by LE came from a cabbie who recognized JH's mugshot when she was recently arrested for child abuse.

Such a precious little face....a beautiful smile and eyes that sparkle....our tiny Butterfly Princess.

No matter what it costs....they need to find her if she's in that landfill. I can't stand the thought of that wonderful little girl being forever entombed in a trash heap.

Make Jerice get out there and dig....Shirley/Susie can help her.

It would be double jeopardy if it arose out of the same act (which it would). But I don't see how she would have been convicted of child abuse before they could manage to charge her with murder...unless she asserted her "speedy trial" rights. Which I guess she might....never mind. I'm OK with the strategy now. ;)

I actually just thought of something. She could of taken a cab to the light rail station an all day pass is 3 bucks roughly and you can get to tempe pretty quick they have 4 stops including the asu campus, mill avenue(big party area, lots of trash right by tempe town lake), and a more secluded college area mostly students not as busy not as likely to be seen. Just a thought.

Also, about the luggage tempe has a massive amount of homeless people carrying all of their goods with them. They sneak onto the light rail pretty frequently, and once Jerice got to Tempe, she very well could of taken her stuff on the free public transit the orbit. It isn't uncommon to see people with the luggage because alot of them go home for a weekend...(usually by going to the light rail getting dropped off at sky harbor).
Hope this has some insight, does anyone know exactly where they think this body was found other than Tempe?

Hopefully Jhessye is dancing her little heart out in heaven. While her killer enjoys the fruits of the AZ department of corrections.
