no confirmation, just that tweet. If she is pregnant it might explain the protective custody.

I am hoping she's maybe just gained non pregnant weight in jail :(

She is probably in protective custody because the other inmates would like to kill her. Childabusers and pedos are not accepted by the general population

I'm sorry if this offends anyone but this woman should be court-ordered to be FIXED just like the ANIMAL that she is!!

It literally makes me :pullhair: to even think of IT being pregnant again.

~ Rant Over ~

If I remember correctly, Jerice was deemed an upfit parent. In my state that means that any subsequent children born to the woman would go directly into the foster care system from birth and an adoptive family would be sought.

Seriously???

A $3 million notice of claim was filed this week against the state of Arizona, Child Protective Service and the Glendale Police Department, alleging their “gross” negligence led to the “wrongful” death of 5-year-old Jhessye Shockley.

Attorney Dwane Cates filed the claim - the first step toward a lawsuit - on behalf of the Glendale girl’s future estate represented by three family members who helped raise Jhessye for the first four years of her life.

I am not surprised. Jerice never should have had those children in AZ in the first place, or in her custody at all for that matter. Those family members tried like hell to get somebody, anybody to listen but none of those agencies would.

Hunter successfully regain custody of Jhessye from her caregivers when she arrived to Arizona in 2010. Cate’s clients are Tycora Cole, Mahogany Hightower and Ida Vance, who are Jhessey’s family members.

Cates said his clients were reluctant to hand the girl over to her mother but was forced to by police.

Cates said his clients soon suspected Hunter was mistreating Jhessye and called Glendale Police to report the abuse, including when Jhessye had her two bottom teeth knocked out in April 2011.

Cates said in the claim the police never investigated, never conducted a child welfare check and turned the information over to CPS.

He said his clients also contacted CPS several times to report abuse, which conducted interviews but closed the investigation, leaving Jhessey with her mother.

Cates said CPS and Glendale Police both had access to Hunter’s child abuse records in California and could have done more but instead “simply closed the case.”

So yeah, seriously.

Why shouldnt someone go after CPS and LE? At what point are institutions accountable for a situation like this? Sometimes a good swift kick in the wallet inspires jaded jurisdictions into action.

next I would love to see the state of California go after the grandmonster for fraud and for retunring Jhessye's siblings to Jerice.

A little justice could be served in that area. MOO

Unfortunately, grandmonster is going after the 3 girls. She wants them back.

good. CPS should partially be held accountable though I don't agree with the part about LE. LE and CPS are two diff agencies and CPS had the job to look after her, make sure zhe was ok, SCREEN placements. LE can make recommendations but IIRC legally they can't do much without CPS, the legal guardian involved. They can act on orders from CPS but that is pretty much it. Maybe LE could have done more but CPS is way more at fault from what I can see.

I agree thefragile. CPS is way more culpable in my eyes too.

As to grandmonster trying to get three of Jhessye's siblings back - wow. That is some serious gall.

smh

Well... I have to disagree with most here. A $10M lawsuit (they will settle for $3M) won't make CPS better. It won't make GPD better.
It only hurts the taxpayers, not the pathetic agencies we have controlling the welfare of children.

Every case where I see the family talked into a lawsuit by one of these money-hungry-hounders-bottom-feeders, it irks me.

So, that is my opinion and it doesn't count at all.

The better news from yesterday...

It was Day 2 for Shirley Johnson's custody fight for the 3 sisters. She planned to take them back to CA if she won. CPS wants her rights severed so that someone can adopt the girls. They are now 15, 10 and 8. They deserve a chance at life. Granny doesn't deserve ANYTHING short of being in the slammer with POSJerice.

Donna Rossi, KPHO, reported that the hearings were private and sealed. BUT... the relatives came out with huge smiles.

I am just guessing Shirley lost.

I did save info in the Case Archive:

woo hoo, great news about grandma Shirley's bid for the kids appearing unsuccessful. That woman is unbelievably bold. I cannot even believe she tried this baloney, after she turned them over to the one person the state of CA said should never have custody of them again. Did she really think any agency was going to trust her judgment.

ETA I do see your point about lawsuit, and respect the fact that your opinion differs from mine. Doesn't change the fact that I still appreciate what you do for so many of these cases and I remain in awe of your dedication to archiving them.

I think we all know why Shirley wanted those 3 children. She handed them back to Jerice after being granted custody of them years ago, so she certainly doesn't want them because she has any sort of emotional attachment to them. Didn't she threaten the oldest girl on FB a while back? I can't imagine those children's horror knowing that g'ma was trying to gain custody of them again. I hope the children are placed in a warm, caring home where they no longer have to live in fear of momster and grandmomster.

As for the lawsuit, I understand Amanda's viewpoint but I agree with you, tlc. CPS does need to be held accountable for their inaction. It seems that lawsuits are the only recourse. If there was another way of ensuring the same thing that happened to Jhessye never happens to another child, I would absolutely support it.

Another police video:

Jerice, in an interview with LE, describes the last time she saw Jhessye:

(A lot of it seems similar to the other video I just posted, but I am too sleepy to compare the two. My apologies if they are redundant.)
