“Jeffrey is diagnosed autistic and functions at a kindergarten level. He also takes medication for seizures.”
Ok, that makes more sense, about the 'going for a drive' thing. They literally may have been just going for a drive if the son functions as a youngster, cognitively.

But where is the vehicle? If something happened, medically to Dad, the son would not be able to drive safely, most likely.

Did they have a cell phone? The son would be able to use that I am sure---but maybe they have no service where they were driving?

Maybe they drove into the scenic areas in Sabino Canyon, just outside the city---there may not be good connections out there?

Sad news :(

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A Pima County father and son were found dead Tuesday, Nov. 22, less than 10 miles from where they went missing.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said the bodies of John Euber, 67, and Jeffrey Euber, 34, were found near the intersection of Houghton and Old Spanish Trail.

The two were last seen near Houghton and Snyder on Friday, Nov. 18. That area is around seven miles from where their bodies were recovered.

On Sunday, the PCSD issued a missing person alert about the two men and said they disappeared while on a drive. Later that day, a Silver Alert was issued. Arizona DPS then said Jeffrey Euber was autistic, functioned at a kindergartener level, and took medicine for seizures.

The PCSD said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should contact 911.

The PCSD said there is no outstanding concern for the community.

Were they found in or near their vehicle?? Or did they exit the vehicle and wander out where they succumbed to the elements?

Oh no! This is horrible news. :( May they rest in peace.

Was it self harm?

I Know of a very sad case where a 70 yr old father drove off with his 40 yr old mentally disabled son---and he purposely overdosed both of them, because he knew he was dying of terminal kidney disease and he felt there was no one to watch after his son. :(

I was just going to mention this. As people age and many keep their developmentally delayed adult children at home, the parents become fearful of what will happen to their child when they die. It's not common, but this does happen.

There are other family members beside the Father. Very sad regardless.

TUCSON (KVOA) - Wednesday night friends and family are mourning the death of 67-year-old John Euber and his 34-year-old son Jeff.

The father and son had been reported missing on November 18.

Pima County Sheriff's Homicide Detectives continued their investigation into the deaths of the father and son.

An autopsy is being scheduled for Monday.

In the meantime, neighbors of the Euber family were in disbelief. Jimmy Stewart was among them.

"John was a good guy, he moved here about seven years ago. He was a great neighbor." said Stewart.

A great guy with a great wife who were both having challenges with their 34-year-old mentally challenged son.

Jeff had the mental capacity of a kindergartner, but was a strong 6 foot tall man.

Details will be updated as News 4 Tucson receives them. Stay with us for more updates.

A number of parent caregivers of disabled adult children are becoming elderly and facing a future of being unable to care for themselves.
There are few options for these disabled adults. There are nursing homes but they many not qualify for skilled nursing care.

This was my initial thought. No mention if a mom/wife **edited to say I see now he was married.

Your post made me sad. I've never really given this topic much thought, but see how complicated and difficult it could be for families in this position

My thoughts are with John's wife and daughter (Jeffrey's mom & sister). However it was this tragedy occurred.
