A Phoenix man who beat a 2-year-old boy to death was sentenced to 25 years in prison and lifetime probation in Maricopa County Superior Court on Friday.

Juan Garcia, 21, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and child abuse in October for the death of Jorge Zamora-Rogel, his then-girlfriend's child.

A Phoenix woman was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison for negligent homicide in the death of her 2-year-old son.

Wendy Rogel-Pagasa pleaded guilty in November to negligent homicide and child abuse in the February 2012 beating death of her son, Ivan Zamora-Rogel.
