No new info that I know of. Tell his dad we're praying for him and his boy. They'll find them. They can't hide in Mexico forever. People down there come here just to survive. They have no connections there. It's unlikely they can survive financially for long there. They'll resurface, I think. Try to come back in and get popped.

I have given him the WS website. He isn't too computer savvy (sp?), but he said his wife is...I encouraged them to register, come here, and give all of you supersleuths any info. you need to help.

BTW, he said that his ex IS from Mexico...Told me the town, but I didn't get it. I also suggested maybe a PI. He said he wanted to go to the town and post ads in the local paper, but the detective on his case doesn't want him to, they may run...but that they are on it. Thanks everyone.

Prayers that this family is found soon! Justice must be served for little Serenity. This is also the first time I hear about this and I do watch alot of news coverage stations.

According to the article they have been in custody for a couple of weeks.

IIRC Mexico won't extradite unless there is a guarantee of no DP. That could take some time as far as paperwork and red tape is concerned. .Sure hope the other children are found. Hopefully they are with family.

I didn't research too much but this info may help in other cases as well.

Mexico does not practice capital punishment, and a treaty between the U.S. and Mexico allows Mexico to refuse to extradite an individual who is facing charges for a crime that may carry the death penalty.

Case must still be awaiting extradition since the arrest in Mexico in 2012. Charges were filed in 2010, but Carla and Alberto are not in custody in Kern County yet. Haven't seen any followup information in the local newspapers. Did anyone hear if the children were found?

Alberto and Carla Garcia finally returned to Bakersfield (from Mexico) to face the charges in Serenity's death. There will be a hearing on Tuesday.

A piece of wood has been identified as the possible murder weapon in the death of 3-year-old Serenity Gandara, court filings say... The suspects in her killing are her foster parents, Alberto and Carla Garcia, who are expected to be arraigned Monday on charges of murder and willful cruelty to a child.

The reports filed in court say Serenity suffered severe bruising to both eyes, a deep cut under her chin, large contusions to the back of her head, a lacerated liver and bowel, and her pancreas was torn in half. She had a skull fracture and there were old scars on her back.

Cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to her abdomen.

No word on whether the Garcias' children were ever located.

Carla Garcia is charged with first-degree murder and three counts of willful cruelty to a child, and Alberto Garcia is charged with first-degree murder and two counts of willful cruelty to a child, according to Kern Countuy Superior Court records.

A woman charged with murder in the death of a 3-year-old child took the witness stand Wednesday and tried to shift the blame on her husband, also her co-defendant, saying he abused her and the child, and threatened to have her deported if she didn’t do what he wanted.

Carla Torres testified her husband, Alberto Garcia, forced her to have sex against her will, beat her and dominated her life. She said sometimes she returned home from work to find injuries on the two foster children they were looking after, including the girl who later died.

But under cross-examination, Torres acknowledged hitting the girl, Serenity Gandara, and screaming at her. She said she didn’t get the child help upon repeatedly finding injuries on her that she knew required medical attention.

Attorneys finished presenting evidence Friday in the murder trial of a husband and wife accused of beating a 3-year-old girl to death after a week in which each defendant took the witness stand and blamed the other.

Alberto Garcia testified Friday morning he witnessed his wife hit the child and her brother on more than 10 separate occasions, including once with the stick of what was either a broom or a mop. He testified the two foster children were afraid of his wife and cried in her presence. She hit both of them, but he said the girl, Serenity Gandara, took the brunt of abuse...

And he admitted he did nothing about it.
