daisy.faithfull, I can't get that first link to work. I don't know if it's the same link that I'll list below.
FWIW, it's not the article so much as the comments section. If what is being alluded to in the comments section comes to being, this case is about to take a very dark path. Yes, even worse than the murder of these two beautiful, gentle people.
We can't discuss the information given in the comments section for now, it's just rumor. I guess at this point all we can do is wait for LE to tell us who the possible suspects are and the motive.

Here's the link again, working, with the bit from the article about the connection to BG.

Sources also confirmed that police are looking into a possible connection to a similar deadly fire at a townhome at 16th Street and Maryland Avenue last week.
X my heart, its right there in the article, didn't break TOS:innocent. PV hasn't confirmed regarding relation to the Shapiro's. But the other victim's home was in PPD's jurisdiction.
Here's an article from yesterday where the PPD says BG's murder might be related, the article also says rumors that the Shapiro's deaths were related to other crimes in the area are not true.

"A crime like this would rock any community and particularly one like Paradise Valley," said Thornton.
He said rumors are everywhere, but after talking with police he believes he can put one of them to rest.
"The only thing we know for sure at this point is that recent home invasions in the area are not connected to this crime," he said.
At the same time Phoenix Police investigators said a fire at a Phoenix Condominium near 16th Street and Maryland that happened Jan. 26, just a few days before the Shapiro's death, could possibly be linked.
The medical examiner said 56-year-old Bruce Gaudet was found dead inside from multiple gunshot wounds.
