If this was reversed.....19 yr. old male takes off with baby.....has controlling parents......I bet there wouldn't be any hand wringing sympathy for him. I imagine the wish would be that he have no contact EVER with his baby and demand he spend time in jail.....not getting therapy and understanding.

I agree that when a father takes off with the child, away from the mother, people have little sympathy. I would have little sympathy for him, unless he could prove Mom was abusive or negligent or posed a serious risk somehow. There is a double standard.

I think the small amount of sympathy Maddie is getting is less to do with the fact that she is a female and more to do with the fact that her parents are Cassie and Roland... crazy lunatics who just couldn't stop themselves. I think the sympathy would be there for regardless if son or daughter, if these two were the parents.

Having said that, yes I think she's selfish and stupid and the amount of sympathy I have for her is at about 1%.

Ive gotten huge piles of info about this family from the Facebook group and they've been involved in all sorts of super evil stuff for years. Fraud. False allegations against others. Faking illnesses. Maddie was involved in some of that from what I can see.

To me she's at the point where she's not just a product of her parents...she's become them.

Pretty creepy people with a long history.

"I arrived home from dialysis at 7:45 PM. All of the children were in my bedroom. Their had been some type of commision (commotion?) in the home. Cassie was in another part of the the house. The children were upset. Alex called police. They came and talked to Cassie + Alex. After the police left Cassie came out from where she was. Alex was trying to get the children out of the house to go his parents. The house phone was not working. Cassie pushed Alex out the front door and he pushed back. Alex's cell phone hit the floor. He wasn't allowed to use a bondsman. Instead of $50,000 bond and use of a bail bondsman, he was allowed to be released if he came up with the $5000 cash but he is not allowed to use a bondsman to help pay, he had to come up with the $5000 cash bond elsewhere.

Her bond was also reduced to a $5k cash bond, still no contact with co-defendants or victim's, electronic monitoring required if she bonds out. No discussion around the shackles or street clothes she requested. [/FONT]
[FONT=&amp]Her attorney argued there is no way she can come up with $5k but the prosecutor pointed out Roland said the same thing and bonded out the next day. The prosecutor read a letter from Jacob Gouchenour detailing what she did and why she would be a flight risk.

Maddie’s lawyer argued she has no assets or money to pay the cash payment. He also argued that all of the things she did on the information her mother gave her and that it’s her mothers fault.

She made claims to LE, her friends, family, church members, Done, etc, did she preface everything with "My mother said......"
No, all accusations came from her own mouth, as her word, against Jacob and his family.
