Mohave County investigators detail new leads and challenges in 1989 cold case

The victim, a 28-year-old woman, was found stabbed and left naked in the middle of a desert road about 50 miles from Las Vegas and about 40 miles from Kingman, Arizona.

''Mitchell said the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has been a valuable partner. Investigators told ABC15 NCMEC is using photos of Ramos to try and put together images that show what her daughters may look like.

But Mitchell has also been able to resubmit evidence found on Marina during her autopsy. ABC15 was told that evidence was scrapings from Ramos' stomach.

"The lab in Flagstaff was able to get a profile of an unidentified person, which has since been entered into CODIS," said Mitchell.

She told ABC15 there have been no matches in that DNA database yet, but there are still other threads to pull.

"I do have leads, which will take me out of Arizona," said Mitchell.''

Wow! Male DNA on her body. So hopeful they will get a match at some point. I hope they are doing FGG and not just running it through police databases. Of course they may not want to admit publicly if they are doing FGG in case that tips off a suspect.

I hope they loaded Marina’s DNA into GEDmatch and the other genealogy sites.

Good to hear in the video above that anyone who thinks they may be one of the daughters is being encouraged to upload DNA to FTDNA and GEDmatch and that Marina's family has DNA in there (with their matches being monitored by LE)

As investigators connected with them, the story of their early years began to emerge. According to law enforcement in December 1989, two children were discovered abandoned in a public park restroom in Oxnard, California. A passerby heard the sound of children crying and alerted a nearby woman. When she entered the restroom, she found the girls lying on the wet floor with no adult in sight.

The children whose identifies remained unknown were placed in foster care. They were later adopted by a couple in Ventura County and raised together. Though they grew up safe and cared for, the mystery of their past remained unsolved for 36 years.
