During the Arias penalty phase the Judge announced that the jury had reached a verdict but it was one of those 'no unanimous verdict' verdicts.
But somehow we kinda knew that by what led up to it, right?

No they didn't. IIRC, they just called everyone in for what they thought was a jury question and then the judge announced it was a hung jury. A hung jury does not entail reaching a verdict so they don't use that verbiage.
The Judge said 'Ladies and Gentleman, I understand you've reached a verdict...' etc.![]()
Are you sure? I don't remember that happening. I've read they don't say you've reached a verdict if you haven't, you know, reached a verdict. I could be wrong though. I do remember the announcement leading up to it did not announce they'd reached one. They just called everyone in. I'm positive about that.
It was weird. Not sure if the "verdict Light" went off...but somehow we knew that they couldn't decide one way or the other.
