My husband is from around there snd used to cowboy for a ranch in that country side, he found it an odd area for them to be in even though the news called it a “known camping area”. He feels someone may have told them to go there with ill intent. The way friends and family talked about these two it seemed they were sweet kids that wouldn’t be involved in anything nefarious. Maybe they were at the wrong place at the wrong time and saw something they shouldn’t have. All MOO.

Hey all - following this case...

I have not seen in any of the articles "when" they went camping. Could it be the weekend before Tuesday, 5/27 when they were found. Say Friday, the 23rd - thru the weekend. I know that my husband & I usually left for our camping trips on Fridays.

Just in case someone sees something mentioned. I shall put them in my notes! :)
Carry on....

I get the sense that MCSO might already have a suspect and they aren’t releasing that information yet. Neither the news reports nor law enforcement’s statements contain a sense of urgency in finding who did this.

I wonder if they were accompanied by another friend or two and something went wrong.

I agree, this may be directly linked back to someone known to both of them. But then again, look at the death of Parker League back in 2023. Anthonie Ruinard wasn’t known to him, that was a chance encounter.

Not apples and apples, just pointing out an alternative possibility of an unknown perp.
This has a high school peer group vibe to me for some reason, time will tell.

Also agree that the perp(s) could be known to them.

Reading about these murders reminded me of Lindsay Cutshall her fiancé Jason Allen who were found murdered in their sleeping bags on a beach in Jenner (Calif). It took 13 years to solve that one. There were no known links between the killer and the victims.

The linked story in the opening post refers to the area as "a remote hiking and camping area." It must be regularly used if other hikers/campers found their bodies relatively soon. To me that implies that no attempt was made to hide the bodies. I wonder if anyone heard the gunshots.

Rest in gentle peace, Pandora and Evan !!
From the link, Evan was an only child.
My utmost condolences to their families and hope they will get answers soon !

The photos shared on both of the crowd funding sites are so sad. Truly seem like great kids. Heartbroken for these two Moms.

Hope LE are on the trail of whoever killed Pandora and Evan.

The area where they were found is apparently a National Forest.

Unlike National Parks, where Rangers actively enforce strict limitations on camping and also actively patrol for people who have become "de facto" squatters, limitations on camping in National Forests and enforcement of these limitations can be more relaxed.

As a result, there is more potential for squatters in National Forests. Forest Rangers maybe a good place for investigators to start.

My guess is that they would have general information on "extended stay" types and would also have records of complaints if other visitors had been say, harassed / intimidated, or if an extended stay type was "claiming" a portion of the forest etc.

Recreational target shooting is permitted in most National Forests.

Though hearing gun shots would be noteworthy in most forest areas, some areas can have a notorious reputation as open shooting ranges where visitors with varying levels of personal responsibility routinely blaze away.

In the end, the unusual nature of gun shots can vary.
