Renee Nilsson was reported missing two weeks before being found deceased. Her family reported that she left her house to go swimming and never returned.
From what I see, the man (born in 1943) lived until 2015, and they divorced (still using her nameI found the marriage documents from the person who pretended to be her (still don’t know who it is though): “Renee” was married on November 26, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to a man who died in 1995. Their marriage was filed with Clark County on the 29th.
I don’t think these people were related to her murder though; if you wanted to get married but were a legal minor or otherwise couldn’t for some reason then somebody who was an adult (I guess she was probably born in 1969) that likely never had a social security number and had no financial activity or anything like that would be a prime candidate to impersonate.

Yeah, it's interesting "Renee" wasn't using her fake last name here.Your photo got snipped for coming from a paywalled website, so here’s a link to the actual public record from a Washington government archives website. She listed her maiden name as Harrison, but the birthplace being California matches up with what has been said in news articles published today.
Crazy, I know he died 10 years ago, but I wonder if the woman who used Renee’s documents is still alive, as she must be much younger than him. I read that when divorcing she put a different maiden name. Not Nilsson, still it must be hard for police to find her. I just think maybe she knows something. From what I see, the man (born in 1943) lived until 2015, and they divorced (still using her name) in 1995. He had multiple marriages. I see many in Washington state. What did he do for work? Did he travel for work?According to public sources, “Renee’s husband” died in 2016 in Texas. He was married four times and his first marriage ended due to his cruelty.

From what I understand, Renee’s relatives reported her missing, but I’m not sure whether the police lost her report — which was common at the time when records were kept only on paper (she was not listed on NamUs in digital era either). Her relatives tried to arrange for her information to be printed on milk cartons, but it wasn’t free, and the family couldn’t afford it. So, I am not sure if the other girl knew about her.He had multiple marriages. I see many in Washington state. What did he do for work? Did he travel for work?
Perhaps he encouraged her to use that name? If she was too young to marry he could have conveniently come up with a name? Is it possible he was aware of what occurred to Renee, then encouraged his next round partner to use the name? It also breaks the link to the body being found and timelines. Perhaps she also read about the missing girl and adopted the name. It seems very strange.
I kinda doubt that someone read about her being missing because it doesn't sound like it was publicized. He had multiple marriages. I see many in Washington state. What did he do for work? Did he travel for work?
