I hope the task force leads to real change. I want to believe that is possible. but the cynic in me has seen too many instances where a task force or special committee is formed after some outrageous case and all it ends up being is a platform for politicians and local community activists to make the right mouth noises for the public and enjoy the facetime while not accomplishing a dang thing to effectuate real change.

Law&Crime Sidebar- Bodycam Footage of locating RB

This is tough to watch with parents right there, her sperm donor is too calm, upset at the thought of getting caught what a 🤬🤬🤬
Poor little girl was trying to get away from the abuse, it seems adults did not listen to her!

The million dollar question.

It is clear Somebody didn’t do their job!
She should have been taken away years ago, these ‘parents’ should be in prison!

A 10 yr old does not run away into a desert without reason! Give me a break

Did all of this abuse happen this summer since school was out? Surely a teacher would notice such injuries!!

Infuriating, may hell be hotter for these two wasted lives
Sickening
IMO

Much more details from Sheriff regarding July 27 interaction with Rebekah's custodial adults, what they said about her injuries, etc.

Disgusting people. It's bad enough they tortured the poor child, but apparently there was signs of sexual abuse too.

From your article: Richard admitted to spanking with a belt

I'm sorry, you don't spank with a belt. That's a BEATING.

And this is just sickening. Worse than I had thought: she was declared brain dead due to bleeding and swelling, the report said. She was placed on life support due to no brain activity.

Also... Doctors also noted that she had “severe bruising throughout her body” along with “possible cigarette burns” to her back and “missing chucks [sic] of hair.”

Spanking with a belt is legal in majority, if not all, states. ETA I mention this because I speak a lot about how we allow things to children we would never allow to happen to other adults and that’s how we change laws

Thank you for responding with your experience. It's awful to even consider that you could "spank" with a belt. I always thought that was a beating.

According to wiki spanking is all about striking the buttocks. I had no idea.

Spanking is a form of corporal punishment involving the act of striking, with either the palm of the hand or an implement, the buttocks of a person to cause physical pain.

I feel we could celebrate James Dobson's death by passing laws against beating kids.

Found this, Not sure it's been posted yet.
Rebekah Baptiste | Arizona Department of Child Safety
WOW there were a lot of reports made. Yet here we are.
Here's what I do not understand. I counted 12 reports made. The first when Rebekah was a NEWBORN. The first report was 10 YEARS ago!

This is from the very first case.

The DCS investigation did not result in evidence to support the allegation. The allegation was unsubstantiated. The case was still open when a second report came in on May 5, 2016.

First off... I suppose I can understand how DCS could come up with the "investigation did not result in evidence to support the allegation. The allegation was unsubstantiated". I get it, it happens. They have to be careful. HOWEVER, the case was still open when a second report came in 8 months later. Wouldn't that raise a red flag?

Then a 3rd report comes in. Whatever happened to "three strikes, you're out"??? Seriously though... wouldn't a 3rd case raise some eyebrows AND wouldn't whoever is determining the outcome of the cases look really deep into what's going on here? Because it's something.

Fast forward through the years and we have 3 reports 3 years in a row, then 3 reports 2 years apart, then the very next year you have FOUR reports in 2024 alone. FOUR!! Where are the damn red flags? Why aren't TEN reports not being taken more seriously?!?!? Are their hands tied or something? Because IMO, that poor child should have been pulled from the home.

Now lets add to this all the times she ran away from home. SOMETHING IS GOING ON, FOLKS, AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. This is maddening and quite frankly, insane.

exactly. It seems as if young Rebekah was on CPS radar for the entirety of her life. And yet here we are with bright beautiful child dead at the hands of her father and his evil wife.

Video of the yurt Rebekah lived in, what it was like out there, and her father talking about her running away.

Oh I agree completely. Someone up thread pointed out that Katie Hobbs, the governor, before holding office was a Social Worker. I am hoping some real changes will come about. Too late for Rebekah, but maybe for future children. JMO

I'm so angry and upset right now about this case I'm not sure I can follow it. These people need the death penalty and a very quick execution.
Arizona is a DP state.

On July 27, Rebekah Baptiste was found unresponsive with "severe injuries" in Holbrook, a small city in northeastern Arizona. She was hospitalized and died three days later.

'She was black and blue from her head to toe. She had two black eyes, and they're thinking the cause of death was because of a hemorrhage.'

The girl's father, Richard Baptiste, and his girlfriend, Anicia Woods, were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in relation to her death. On Monday, the couple appeared in court, and prosecutors presented some of the shocking evidence in the case.

Doctors who examined the girl said she was malnourished, dehydrated, and appeared to have been tortured. Prosecutors said she had bruises all over her body, had been starved, and had some toenails missing.

Death Sentence, death sentence, death sentence, very quickly.

I sound like a broken record but until we start charging people in the positions where they have failed these kids, this will just keep happening
