I can't tell if the confusing reports are bad reporting or the family not giving good information all along. This is really a mess.

Like I said, Az has horrible news delivery/reporting. Most writers are fresh out of high school interns.

Local coverage of this case has pretty much dropped off the radar. For the life of me, I don't understand why it isn't the top story and dominating our airwaves.

Here is an article...

"We are still in the process of trying to verify a call from the custodial mother to YCSO Sunday morning." Stated D'Evelyn of the YCSO. "Call phone reception is poor in the area and could have been a factor."

http://www.examiner.com/x-39281-Pho...h-Continues-for-Missing-2YearOld-Syler-Newton

Well that pretty much shuts down her theory of the Mexican Man who was on the phone for hours staring at them -- then kidnapped Syler (in so many words).

Does anyone local know if the campground is locked at night? I mean, can a vehicle drive through there at, say midnight? (I have camped in places where the entrance is closed off at a certain time, and other places where it's not.)

Total speculation here: Is it possible that something 'bad happened' to Syler and someone, like another family member, came to pick up his body? (sorry to sound negative here!)

That scenario could explain some things: short time frame between last being seen and completely vanishing; dogs only tracking scent a little ways from the tent; odd-looking (IMO) scene with Tina and Angela running to each other and embracing; tina's use of the word 'body'...

Completely speculation and MOO

"Around 1:45 a.m., Priem discovered Newton was missing and originally tried to call the Sedona Fire Department for help about 15 minutes later, according to D'Evelyn, who said YCSO deputies got to the scene around 3 a.m."

Who calls the fire department instead of just dialing 911? Or am I misinterpreting something here?

Hmmm.. sure sounds like they tried to contact the fire department directly but who knows with the way the media reports lately.. Heck, we don't even know for sure at this point if his name is spelled Sylar or Syler..

I have heard before that if you were being robbed or something that the fire department responds faster than 911 usually.

Why is there such confusion about what tent this baby was in? :waitasec:

Here is a website about the campground and fees... it doesn't say whether they lock it at night however.

Most campgrounds that I have been to have a railing that blocks traffic from coming in past 10pm. If you were not to your camp site by that time you were out of luck. Foot traffic can get in though.

Also people can leave the campgrounds I have been at at anytime in a car.. but usually they have the road spikes that stop cars from going in the exit.

Not really. A perp could fake being on a phone just to look a little less threatening. Doesn't mean he was actually talking to anyone.

The campgground is not locked at night. However, it gets so dark that any vehicle coming through the camp after 9pm would have been very obvious.

This campground is very small... probably a little smaller than a football field.

With that said, you can walk out of the campsite to a road and be out of general view in a minutes time.

Okay the video everyone will want to look at is entitled No Sign of Missing two year old boy at link that MsFacetious provided for us above.

It's an interview with the "Custodial" Mother.

I'm sorry but watching her face, I hate to sound so harsh but I had Susan Smith deja vu.

JMHO.

WOW! I'm glad I didn't see that last night, I might have been banned by my response.

So, was Syler in the tent with her and mom OR was he in the tent with his brother and sister???

Is this a case of poor media reporting or a guilty person that can't keep their story straight?

It hasn't been mentioned that I have seen...possibly a bit graphic about animals.

His scent vanishing after a certain distance would also be consist with an animal. If a coyote or mountain lion for example grabbed him, they would generally go for the neck which would silence him so there wouldn't be a scream. The scent would go away rather quickly...

I don't want to think beyond that. But that's what I keep thinking when they say the scent goes away.

BBM

It just seems that he must have been taken since the scent dogs only tracked him so far.
I can't tell if the confusing reports are bad reporting or the family not giving good information all along. This is really a mess. Poor baby, I wonder where he is?

Wow. Echoes of Susan Smith. IMO, she's lying. I may have to eat my words but there was something that seemed artificial, despite the appearance of actual tears. She barely looked up, kept looking down as she spoke, or her eyes looked downwards. Susan Smith did the same thing. Could not look up. Also, both blame a type of person that, in the area, many may have suspicion about. It's like crudely tapping into popular opinion/sentiment. The huge immigration issue and conveniently, this is the suspect.

(Respectfully snipped)- BBM

ITA! That was my first thought when I read that she said a "Mexican man" -- IIRC, Susan Smith lived in the deep south where a "Black" carjacker would draw a significant amount of the public's attention away from her and onto the racial issue as well. JMO, of course
:snooty:

Diane Downs who btw is also from AZ used the bushy haired stranger carjacking before susan smith I often wondered it she had saw Diane's lifetime special. Also Casey took her Zanny from Rilya Wilsons foster mother.
Rilya and Caylee are both from flordia. Rilya Wilson is the foster child that kicked off a statewide investigation which (imo)over shadowed her case. there are links to Rilya's Zanny in the Caylee forum just run a search in the forum for her name. These people are not orginal thinkers.

Now what is tina's home address and how far from the campground is that because I doubt Tina is an orginal thinker either and that little boy is most likely where she can try to control the importance of the enviroment of where he is located.

Also how far from the border is the campground. Last sighting at 930 report @145. I am thinking if she did do something to him then she would have already had the mexican story in her head before she did something with him so she would want a discovery to match her story. Any Mexican ties to Tina would be important.(in case she did venture outside her imaginary powers)

You know I have been called practical and down to earth (nicely) I've been called blunt and outspoken (not so nicely)

But I can't imagine sitting there and saying "because they haven't found his body".

I'm not overly emotional but she's talking about her child that has only been missing going on 48 hours.

One other question. The word Safe. I'm trying to remember a parent pleading for a child's return and adding "safe" to the end of it.

They usually beg and plead for a child's return. Over and over. Not throwing safe onto the end of it almost like a qualifier KWIM?

Interesting. I'm boggled not only by her choice of words but by her facial expressions too. Gaw. JMHO.

 Who would ever call you blunt! Direct, yes!

OMG moment on the "haven't found his body" statement and
LMAO at the "male mexican man" statement.

I think I will go back to my happy place in which I imagine that someone has Syler in a safe place with water to drink, food to eat, a comfy bed and cartoons!

The campground is a little under 300 miles from the border heading down through Prescott and on to Heroica Nogales, México which seems to be the likely route one would take.

Question for anyone who might know...not you specifically:

If Syler was in and around the campground all day prior to going missing, how can dogs determine that they are sniffing out the most recent movement of the child? I/E: How do we know Syler wasn't walking that same path the dogs hit on at 9pm, when he was seen by other, non-family campers? Further, would the scent be altered if Syler was walking and then suddenly was picked up and carried at that point? Would that additional scent of another person...or Syler being off the ground....change what the dogs hit on?
Just curious.

I am wondering why so little has been said about the 14 year old friend who was camping with the family. I'm sure the police must have interviewed him. He must have had some idea of what happened the night Syler went missing and in what order things happened. Christina said she woke everyone up when she discovered Syler missing. The teen friend could say what happened after that and also could tell what tent Syler slept in or even if he was in a tent.
