GUILTY AZ - Sylar Newton, 2, Rimrock, 25 July 2010 - #5

  • #341
Priem was arrested in Flagstaff and was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center.

YCSO said the arrest stems from the ongoing investigation into Sylar Newton's disappearance and death. Detectives developed information that minor children under Priem's care were exposed to illicit narcotics.
Their investigation revealed that these incidents occurred during the time Priem and her family, including Sylar, were camping at the Beaver Creek campground.
YCSO said these charges don't pertain directly to Sylar, they are a result of what happened around the time of Sylar's disappearance on July 25, 2010.
The investigation into Sylar's disappearance and death continue.
Priem's bond was set at $250,000. Her next court date is scheduled for December 14.

It's about time!!! The Sylar Newton case is what lead me to the joys of websleuthing. It would be nice to see this case come to and end although tragic as it is.

Unfortunately, I don't think justice will be completely served here. Why is is that if someone kills and adult, they get the DP or life, but when it's a child, you often see them out after a short period of time. Why doesn't murder carry the same penalty with children as it does for adults?

Snipped...

"Detectives have released further details regarding the criminal charges involving Priem. During the course of the investigation into Sylar’s death, detectives developed information that minor children under Priem’s care and control were exposed to illicit drugs. These incidents occurred during the time Priem and her family/friends, including Sylar, went camping at the Beaver Creek campground beginning Friday, July 23, 2010. Although these charges do not pertain directly to Sylar, they result from an examination of activities at the campground which could lead to an understanding of Sylar’s disappearance and death. The circumstances surrounding the death of Sylar remain the primary focus of detectives as the investigation continues in earnest."

According to Dwight D'Evelyn, these charges stem from the investigation into Sylar's death. "It is an integral part [of the investigation] in light of the circumstances regarding Sylar's living conditions and events leading to his death.."

Makes me wonder if she was a "cool mom" who "passed" more than s'mores around while sitting by the campfire...

WTH was she doing with Sylar in her custody? Let alone her own two kids and a their friend, out there camping... I'd want to wring her neck if that was my kid on this trip.

A woman is accused of giving drugs to her children and one of their friends during a camping trip in which a toddler under her care disappeared and later was found dead, authorities said Tuesday.

Christina Priem faces three felony counts of involving a minor in a drug offense, but none of those charges involve the 2-year-old toddler, Sylar Newton, said Yavapai County sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn.

D'Evelyn wouldn't say what drugs Priem is accused of giving her children -- a son and a younger daughter -- or the son's teenage friend.

"We've broken open the door a little bit to have some idea what was going on, where detectives felt they could make a case for these other victim children and dig in further to figure out what was going on with Sylar," D'Evelyn said.

I knew it was for her older kids.... there just wouldn't be a charge for only that on Sylar. It wouldn't make sense...

Now we have drugged up 12 and 14 year olds. Wonder if we will really ever no what happened. I would image a drugged 12 and 14 year old wouldnt make a very good witness , It is why some criminals drug victims.

Now I wonder if something happened and the kids tried to hide it.
Maybe Tina didnt know he was missing at first, I dont believe that I think Tina had her hands all over it. In court though, without evidence it would be a good defence.

Charity N told The Associated Press on Monday she is hopeful authorities will figure out exactly what happened to her son.

"They're continuing in the direction of bringing justice to my son, I know that," she said. "They've told me numerous times that they're not going to give up.

I am happy that LE is assuring CN that they will not give up on Sylar that is a hell of a lot more than what CN can say she did for her own flesh and blood.

I have been checking the inmate list every day - so far Collins is still walking / breathing free.

May the courts show Tina the same caring touch, she showed Sylar.
