I'm wondering what his grandmother, who took him to LE (as stated in article in link at above post,) where it was initially believed he was a victim re: having discovered the bodies, thinks about all of this. Anyone interviewed her yet?

I'm also wondering why the boarder, Mr. Romans, who was obviously married, as he was reportedly on the phohne with his wife when he heard commotion inside and told his wife the boy was calling for him, was living there instead of with his wife?
(Here's the article with the facts I mention above: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/11/us/11child.html?_r=2&hp&oref=slogin&oref=slogin)
Did he and his wife live somewhere else and he was just in the town temporarily, eg, work or something???
I'd like to know more about this.

I think the mother lives in Mississippi. Was she in the state when this happened or did she come when she found out about the murders? She was at the hearing but left without speaking to reporters.

No, she had already gone home to MS and then returned after the murders.

imo

He lived in another town away from this one and he worked at the same power plant as the father. He most likely rented a room during the week and returned home on the weekends to his family. Sorry I cant remember the name of the town now that he was from.

Usually pay is very good for workers in power plants and he most likely couldn't find a job that paid that well in his immediate area.

We have some friends that do this too and stay in an apartment during the week and return home on the weekends.

The father must have made a good wage too. Their home is nice and neat.

And how in the heck did the sexual abuse get thrown in? It is very interesting how some will rally around the killer in an attempt to bash the homicide victims in a crime.

All I know is the Police Chief said the boy confessed why he planned and carried out this and the PC seems to be livid about the reason he gave for these crimes. It speaks volumes to me. It must be so horrendous that they are trying to see that he is charged with double homicides which is a precedence. If it were anything to do with abuse they would not be this outspoken on wanting justice for these two men who were murdered imo.

Well, the Police Chief also said that they were looking into abuse, because an 8 year old doesn't just wake up one day, and plan something like this. Also, the child has NEVER been in trouble, including no acting out in school. I think that's why it isn't impossible to think that abuse could have played a part in this.

Once the defense attorneys get involved there will be "sexual abuse" whether it happened or not. IMO

Links to that would be great. It is a fitting scenario for him to be living there. I guess depends on how far his home town was and how much money he had and didn't want to waste on gas.

Tanya Romans, Timothy's wife, spent Monday preparing for the funeral of her husband. She described him as a loving family man who lived with her and their two daughters, Chantel, 19, and Taylor, 18. The family moved to Mesa so the girls could attend college there. Tanya said her husband lived with the family in Mesa but worked in St. Johns. Authorities have said Timothy was a co-worker of the boy's father at a power plant.

A shocking tragedy rocked St. Johns Wednesday afternoon - two men, one a well-known resident from a long-time St. Johns family, were killed shortly after 5 pm. Less than 24 hours later, police believe they have solved the crime - an 8-year-old boy has been charged with killing his father and a second man.

The 8-year-old was charged on Friday with two counts of first degree murder. The charges allege the boy acted with premeditation to kill his father, Vincent Romero, 29, of St. Johns, and his friend and border, Tim Romans, 39, of San Carlos.

"Did you ask him if he might have been mad at his dad," asked Carlyon. Neckel said the boy admitted he was mad at his dad. "He said that the evening before, he didn't bring some papers home from school and his dad was very angry and had (the boy's) stepmother spank him five swats."

Soobsin provided some information in the post above.

Tanya would not discuss the murder investigation.

It does look like he just stayed there through the week and then would return home to his wife and two daughters.

Well of course they will check it out Soobs. They would be derelict in their duties if they didn't check it out whether it is exist or not, that is their duty concerning their investigation but for now it seems the boy was mad at his dad because his daddy was highly upset with him that he didn't bring his papers home from school (probably had a pattern of doing so maybe) and had the stepmother give him 5 swats.

As late as yesterday Melnick said they have uncovered no abuse and even the boy's own attorney said the same thing.

It would be doubtful that the step-mother, only married in September to the boy's father, would seek custody.

It sounds as if the boy has only spent minimal time with his bio mother over the past four years. If she seeks legal custody, she could be held responsible for the boy's legal bills. Right now, it appears the county has repsonsibility. She needs legal advice herself.

I'd like to know more about the natural mother.

Here's an update. It sounds like the boy was simply mad at his dad. He was supposed to bring school papers home, and when he didn't, he was given 5 swats by his step-mother. They boy stayed at the residence for 30 minutes before going to the neighbor's house. Then, he told his friend, who told his teen brother, who told the father who came home from work and went to the residence.

What is so chilling about all of this is how methodically he carried out all of this.

He had to reload the rifle 7 times after he fired the first shot.

And he called Mr. Romans into the home telling him he needed him and when Mr. Romans went to him he was waiting and shot him 4 times just like he did his dad.

No wonder LE knew it was premeditated. They had the rifle and knew it was a single shot rifle.

So scary.

"There is a request that you be detained in the juvenile detention facility, down on Main Street, during the remainder of these proceedings. The hearing today is to determine whether or not it is reasonable to believe you did what you are charged with - not sufficient proof to hold you responsible, but reason to believe and be concerned that you have done what you are charged with." When Rocca asked the young defendant if he understood what he had just heard, the boy indicated he did."

I don't see how an 8 year old can understand all that. It's a lot to process especially when asked right away..

If the step mom swatted him for the papers at Dad's request (which makes no sense to me on either parents behalf), and this was so premediated and calculated, why would he kill Dad and the boarder and not step mom?

He probably understood the first sentence, that he wasn't going home. The second sentence has to be confusing for an 8 yr old. The boy does have an attorney, right?
