:noooo: Wouldn't you want to check his record first??? I watched MM's trial and I thought he was a much better PR person on tv than a lawyer in the courtroom. I was really disappointed in his lawyerly skills in the courtroom.
But then again that is only my impression.
As a defense attorney, your record doesn't mean much. Approximately 98% of your clients are guilty. The majority of your cases will not go to trial because you will negotiate some sort of plea, in an attempt to mitigate their punishment. Those that do go to trial, it's a crapshoot, because again - most of your clients are guilty.
When we defended (successfully) a client whom we believed to be innocent, the lead attorney on the case said "Well, that's our one for the year." In looking for a defense attorney, it's not so important to look at the number of wins - it's more important to look at how good he is in negotiating deals. That's where the defense attorney magic happens, so to speak.
