Well, I will consider that TS losing "the love of his life" was a good opportunity to capitalize on that love. Could be seen as a way to get people to download his song for only 99 cents. No telling if he donated that money to the worthy cause. I see a little confusion on his part between his interactions with women and getting money for himself.

I agree and I thought the same thing. This Chicago atty has been nothing but insulting to the Balinese people.

Curious me:

It reminds me of when Oprah picked that book "a million little pieces" for her book club and we all read it and were moved about the part when he was in the car with the girl who was killed in a train wreck (iirc). Turns out, there really was a girl who was killed, but the author never knew her, never was friends with her and wasn't with her when she died.

I am very suspicious of this supposed love affair between TS and RS-- maybe he dated her briefly, but I don't think it was on the level we have been told.

"While browsing through items at an estate sale in Oak Park, an upscale suburb west of Chicago, freelance musician Heather Neaveill-Kramer came upon a treasure trove: hundreds of handwritten musical scores, all original, and from the hand of James Mack...."

[modsnip]

"That they [musical compositions] were for sale in a basement, and not professionally archived in a university or private collection, illustrates, to some, the fractured dynamic of the family James Mack left behind when he died in 2006 at the age of 76: his widow Sheila von Wiese-Mack, and their daughter Heather, who was 10."

So, Heather was ten yrs old in 2006 when her father died.

"The Oak Park police say that they made 86 calls to the Mack home between January 2004 and June 2013 for a combination of domestic violence, theft, missing person, and 911 hangups. All were related to incidents between the mother and daughter, said David Powers, communications director for Oak Park."

The police visits to the Mack home began two years before her daddy died or when she was 8 years old?

"Many of his friends were confused by the marriage – his new bride was 22 years his junior – no less his decision to have a new child at the age of 66."

RE:
6'2" TS, I read that his ex [girl]friend (not the young lady who died) stated in an interview that TS could be emotionally abusive. He lied to her about having a heart condition and that his death was imminent.

moo and all that jazz

I'm helpless trying to figure out what "throwing a few cows" means. Could you help?

MOO = My Opinion Only, so refers to throwing a few cows (Moo, Moo) in (I think).
IOW, saying the post is not necessarily fact, but opinion.

  • #768
My attempt at being funny. Sorry. :giggle:

I throw in a cow if I want to state something I'm thinking about as being "My Own Opinion".

IMO = In My Opinion
JMO = Just My Opinion
IMHO = In My Humble Opinion

or just a :cow: or a :moo: helps.

  • #769
Good idea, thanks. Yes, everything I have written is simply my opinion.

"A United States teen and her boyfriend detained in connection with the death of the woman's mother on the resort island of Bali will not be allowed to speak to each other until after they make a police statement, their Indonesian lawyer said on Saturday.

"She asked why she could not be with Tommy... I explained this was a technical aspect of the investigation," the couple's Indonesian lawyer Haposan Sihombing told Reuters. "Before you give a statement, you need to be separated first. Maybe after you have given a full statement you can meet (Tommy)," he added."

Yeah, right ... like she doesn't know why she can't be with Tommy. Because in the US they always allow the accused to hang out together.

Continued disrespect and game-playing ... it is not going to serve her well.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why would she be allowed to see/talk with TS?

I don't think she will be .. I think they are just trying to encourage her to make a statement. They are not even being held at the same facility - and her phone calls (with her lawyer) have apparently been facilitated by the US Consulate. I doubt that they will interfere with the local justice system.

If/when she does make a statement, they will probably just say ... no, sorry, you can't speak with him. You are not pleading guilty, so we need to keep you apart so you cannot collaborate.

I have a feeling that she won't be talking to Tommy for a long time, if ever. And if her lawyer is not going to also consult with/for TS, there will be no communication at all between them.

I get that they're trying to get her to make a statement, but why would HM even think that it's ok? Surely she's watched enough tv in the US to know that's not going to happen. Have they told her it's allowed? Has she seen other male/female inmates communicating? It's just so absurd.

IMO she is playing games. She is a crafty one ... she is probably turning on that 'sweet girl' demeanour that we have heard about to try to get her own way. They seem to be treating her quite well, because they consider her to be very young, and she is pregnant. She got McDonalds instead of KFC (and the fact that she even got KFC means they are/were trying to be nice to her). Why not try to push them a bit further?

I have never heard of accused being allowed to speak with each other anywhere, prior to making statements, and sometimes even prior to trial. And never when they are of the opposite sex and are kept in different facilities.

She treats them like idiots. I wish they would just treat her the same as everyone else, in every regard.

Wow, it says they both hired the attorney. Not sure I believe that. Is somebody else paying this US attorney for both of them? Good, the lies they told were all about six men, and they didn't have another story set-up between them probably.

"The two have hired US lawyer..."

"...has advised them not to make any statements about the incident until he arrives."

Correction: Indonesia-US Woman Dead Story

BALI, Indonesia — Aug 22, 2014, 8:25 PM ET
Associated Press
In a story Aug. 21 about the investigation into the killing of a Chicago woman in Indonesia, The Associated Press erroneously reported the age of suspect Heather Mack, the slain woman's daughter. She is 18 years old. The story also erroneously referred to Chicago-based attorney Michael Elkin as the lawyer for both Mack and her boyfriend and fellow suspect Tommy Schaefer. Elkin is only representing Mack.

They both should be very scared by now. It's been ten days. The fact that her mother is gone must be sinking in for Heather. But she's a tough cookie if she's still not breaking down or making a statement yet. Good to hear he doesn't have the same attorney as it'd be bad for finger pointing which should happen soon. I say TS seems more likely to crack first saying she did it and he just helped clean-up. He'll resent if she has a defense team and he doesn't. What do you think?
