ETA: “She asked why she could not be with Tommy ... I explained this was a technical aspect of the investigation,” the couple’s Indonesian lawyer, [Attny HS], told Reuters.

Looking at their Balinese appointed attorney, it's sounding though HM & TS have both been assigned the same Balinese/Indonesian attorney - I wonder why that is?

IMO she is playing games. She is a crafty one ... she is probably turning on that 'sweet girl' demeanour that we have heard about to try to get her own way. They seem to be treating her quite well, because they consider her to be very young, and she is pregnant. She got McDonalds instead of KFC (and the fact that she even got KFC means they are/were trying to be nice to her). Why not try to push them a bit further?

I have never heard of accused being allowed to speak with each other anywhere, prior to making statements, and sometimes even prior to trial. And never when they are of the opposite sex and are kept in different facilities.

She treats them like idiots. I wish they would just treat her the same as everyone else, in every regard.

I'm already tired of hearing LE consider HM to be very young and she is pregnant. So pregnant teen kills her mother don't sound warm and fuzzy to me.

On another note I think TS got in over his head being involved with HM as someone else posted up thread. Jmo he had been living in the moment and off of others, tagging along on this trip expecting something for nothing. I'm curious how much money did he have in his wallet... Interesting we are not hearing reports that he wants to speak to HM. Jmo

ciao

My sincere apologies for not tossing in a few cows. moo

It was not my intent to disparage a crime victim. jmo

One of the most fascinating aspects of any case is the psychoanalysis of those involved. omo

Discovering how people end up getting themselves killed is key to understanding the murder. omho

It is not normal behavior for a beautiful 18yo female to kill her own mother and stuff her into a suitcase so her legs are around her neck. omo

What happened prior to all three of these people, SVM, HM, and TS, that their relationships ended in a deadly triangle is the heart of the matter. amoo

I think that part of the problem was role confusion between mother and daughter. It's not possible to have the authority of a parent, and be a friend to the child. The roles are quite distinct, and blurring of those roles inevitably results in problems.

"He described the relationship between Mack and her mother as “more of a friendship” that made “the role between friend and mother probably difficult to maintain”. He also suggested that some of the earliest reports involved individuals related to James Mack from outside the household."

Heather needed a parent. I get the impression that Heather started acting out as a young child (most likely in early childhood). It seems that each time she got away with it, the 'acting out' escalated. The message that Heather was getting was that violence, theft, and abuse meant that she would be taken on luxurious vacations. The irony is that in response to murder, she has a permanent vacation in Bali.

:welcome: talexrn

AFAIC it's more the pity that there is nothing coming out in the media about TS. I can understand that Heather's story makes more sensational press, however I have a feeling that there is underlying obsessive behaviour with TS.

It would appear that Heather didn't have the maturity to recognise manipulation (by herself or by others) for what it was, nor did she have the mental capacity to handle it from what I've read so far, IMO.

Note - TS escort advert is now removed. MOO is that the wording of it was particularly revealing.

Otto- who described their relationship that way? I'm not seeing it in the link provided.

ETA- I found it in a blog online. It was her attorney who said (basically), that the rellationship was contrary to what has been reported. Looks like he used "friendship" to describe the relationship as an amicable one. If he's getting his info from HM, I'll take that with a grain of salt. He also stated that HM has sworn innocence and that he believes she was ignorant of her mother's death. Now that's pretty much the most ridiculous thing I've heard yet which makes me question all of this reporting.

Sorry about that ... it looks like I posted the wrong link. This is the correct one:

Elkin made the statement.

News is certainly slowing down now. I guess the accused are eating rice, hanging with other prisoners, reading newspapers, smoking cigarettes, and waiting for HM's attorney to show up. I wonder when they will decide to make statements - if ever.

I'm thinking Michael Elkin is not going to show. And they will just continue to be represented by their police-appointed lawyer - who is, no doubt, paid by the govt and will provide them with the most basic representation .. like encouraging them to make statements, telling them when they have to be in court, sitting off to the side while they are in court and they sit alone in the middle of the room facing the panel of judges.

Mack given limited access to lawyer - Attorney for former Oak Park teen murder suspect still in United States

Michael Elkin, Mack's attorney, released a statement Thursday noting that "there have been some recent issues with respect to police authorities" not allowing the 18-year-old to speak to Elkin and his staff.

"I am hopeful that the police station will continue to allow her to communicate with our office as it will prove to serve in everyone's best interest, during the pendency of the investigation," Elkin said in the news release.

BBM - Me too! I'm wondering if Attny E has just been milking this for the free publicity??

So far, all HM seems to have benefited [???] with this attny is rice for meals and cut off from phone communication w/ him. Oh yah ... and the daily promises that he's on his way with a team of professionals. :notgood:

Well, he has tested the waters now, and is not seeing any public support or outcry about this allegedly-murderous pregnant young girl and her allegedly-murderous boyfriend being framed for a brutal murder committed by a mysterious invisible gang. Nor is he seeing any family support for them.

Even the US Consulate is evidently not facilitating his “office’s” phone calls with HM any more.

He probably has his fair share of divorces, DWIs, and possession cases to represent … cases that are paying the bills.

Wonder if the spoiled brats Heather & Tommy are preferring their meals of rice to fast food? We haven't heard any more complaining about that. Hope she never gets to see him ever again. Wonder if she'll eventually throw him under the bus? I see him turning on her faster than her turning on him, since she seems to be obsessed with him. I think the murder was premeditated back in the states, when he posted on Facebook about never coming back, and I'll bet Sheila was surprised by him "showing up" on her vacation with her daughter.

What a joke it'd be if that attorney doesn't show up. He needs a retainer and the funds to get involved after all. Maybe he'll just have to tell her - "getting money my attitude, you know what it do".

  • #795
If the crime was not premeditated, and if HM was the perp in the heat of the moment, what could TS have possibly been thinking to get him to help conceal the victim, and then flee [on a small island ] with the perp?

OTOH, if premeditated, with either one the perp, both helped conceal the victim, then both fled ... well it just doesn't look good for them at all ... rice, floor sleeping, Hotel K until an unknown, fateful night in the future ... :put em up:

You crack me up, Quester.

Can I play too?

What about the days ahead of
www_MyEmoticons_com__smokelots.gif
. Will they be able to keep getting cigarettes? Will her attorney tell the media of her complaints that she isn't getting the brand she prefers?

You know, the more I look at that “what it do” statement, the more I wonder if Sheila had not had a 'conversation (?)' with HM and said ..

“Okay ... IF you promise to stay in touch with me, and IF you promise to handle it wisely, I’ll put $10,000/$20,000/$50,000 in an account for you to manage and use. IF it all goes well, I’ll release more money to you. Now, let’s go on vacation and sort this out …”

Then TS rocks up to alleviate HM’s previously-anticipated boredom with her mum and her vacation, and Sheila discovers that once again she has footed the bill for HM’s pursuits ... AND HM is pregnant …. the crapola hits the fan and all deals are off.

I googled the "getting money" comment by HM to see if it could possibly be a lyric or something, but no...apparently it is a HM original.

I'm also still struck by TS twitter comment about how he was going to Bali and then put money and diamond images behind it instead of (like someone else mentioned) palm trees, coconuts, drink icons. Money and diamonds?
