Fine, if so, let Indonesia prosecute, convict, sentence, and when sentence completed, send them back [in whatever state] to US to face whatever US charges - just like with JoranVS and his pending charges in US. JMHO

I hear you....difference here of course is that JVS is a non American murdered an American offshore while TS and HM are US citizens who "may" have planned while they were in USA.

I am wondering if it goes further to give help to the alleged murderers (in this case).
I can understand the help for Sheila and her family - but seeing that a family member (Heather) is at the centre of this - maybe the FBI involvement is more complex.

Still no US Lawyer on the scene.
I am wondering if Heather thought she still had access to money and was going to pay for her boyfriends lawyer - or thought that they could both be represented by the same Lawyer.

Well poor Miss Heather is Imo really poor. Her only hope is charity. Can't kill your mom and expect to get a dime.

Good point, Quester.

He is probably still harping on about not being able to have a phone meeting with HM recently. And seeing that Indonesia does not recognise US/international lawyers in their criminal cases, it is understandable on the part of the Bali police to not allow calls from his office imo.

He has had plenty of time to find a suitable Indonesian lawyer for her. But no $$$ for it, no doubt.

I have to admit, I am afraid of the same thing. If it is to Indonesia's 'advantage' .. iykwim.

I guess it all depends whether the US really wants them or not. Hopefully, not.

The US law covering US conspiracy to murder US citizens overseas seems to be aimed primarily at terrorism, not 'plain ole murder'.

I believe the FBI assisted in the investigation of Robyn Gardner's disappearance in Aruba while on vacation with Gary Giordano and he was detained for 4 months there but never charged with her murder. The FBI would have been instrumental in getting warrants and going through homes and electronics in the US to determine if there was a murder plan but I don't believe they ever requested that GG be turned over to them. Unfortunately Robyn has never been found and Gary Giordano is still a free man. He was released from jail in Aruba after 4 months and returned to the US without being charged. He's written a book about his experience.

Yes, "local personnel working on her case" does not amount to "Indonesian lawyer" IMO. Sounds like the US attorney has been contacted by some people in Bali who likely claim to be PI's or something more along those lines. Who would likely "work" for him for next to nothing to get information for him.

Heather and her supposed attorney simply do not understand that this is NOT America. Complaining about her rights and how they're being violated is only going to make things worse.

I can only imagine that there are a lot of things going on in the background in the US with regards to SWM's estate and who will be the ultimate beneficiary of that. I suppose if Mr Elkin wants to get involved in trying to get the funds from that estate for HM then he will work on that in the US. I think he sees that as his responsibility as HM's "lawyer". As well as establishing a legal "team" in Bali. Which he cannot do without funds. And of course he'll only go after those funds if he sees a viable chance that she will be awarded them so he can get his "fee". I am only guessing that SWM would have made her brother her executor based on him being an executor for JM. Will that brother make the decision that SWM would have wanted him to support and defend HM just as his sister had done all those years? Will the courts decide that she is not entitled to the funds due to the "slayer" laws? The family is being very tight lipped about what their support for HM is going to be. She has 5 half siblings. We've heard from none of them.

My thought was Shelia wasn't murdered by HM until TS arrived. She had plenty of time, seeing as HM & Shelia were in another hotel before the St. Regis. Seems as plain as the nose on your face that these two conspired to kill Shelia while in the US - they didn't lose any time getting on with it either.

Good for you Shelia for locking up the passports.

I had wondered this last week-- if he could be arrested. Couple of things here:

It seems everyone who comes into contact with HM has negative things happen to them.

We know HM is a poor decision maker and without speaking to anyone (like TS to tell her what to say)she seems to be making decisions that are against her best interest. (Like tell the truth, doh).

It seems to me that is the murder was an accident, wouldn't any of us be desperately trying to explain what happened? The longer she refuses to give a statement, the more I am inclined to believe she premeditated it.

If she can't take any more of "this" and she is only like what 12 days in, I am interested to see what happens once she gets to the big prison.

I wonder if TS already said what happened and we are all waiting on her to give her statement. For all we know, he could have given a statement that the police won't talk about yet until she gives hers. To me, if I was TS I would have ratted her out immediately to save myself. This is serious.


I can't wait for the day when her trial starts and she hasn't given a statement. She seems the type who will continually need to learn things the hard way, if she ever learns at all.
